This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

Thanks for the effort that went into this. We all know Wake gives the Pats fits every time we play them, especially in the Miami heat. RT should have had help on every pass play (even though the extra help doesn't always work against him).

What's alarming for me is that the inside of the line hasn't been corrected. The same issues we've been having for the last few years when we go up against a good defensive front. Center and Guards getting driven right back into Brady's face. I hope Stork is the answer at Center.

Josh McDaniels also deserves a lot of the blame. Every pass Brady should have been in shotgun to give him the extra second. Having Brady do 5 or 7 step drops was suicide in the 2nd half. By the time he got to his spot he was being hit.

I don't think Brady being in the shotgun would have helped nearly as much as having the passing game target Miami's LB's. With the pressure that was coming from all angles, but particularly up the A and B gap's, it was absurd to have Brady trying to work deep downfield.

Here's what Dan Koppen had to say this morning via Shalisa Manza Young:

"Koppen says to him line L to R should be Solder, Connolly, Wendell, Cannon, Vollmer"

Jeff Howe tweeted the following regarding the O-line:

Solder- 2 Sacks allowed plus 1 QB Hit
Connolly - 1 QB hit allowed and 2 hurries
Cannon - 4 QB hits allowed (3 to the ground)
Devey - 2 QB hits allowed (1 to the ground), 4 hurries
Wendell - 1 hit allowed
Vollmer - 1 sack, 4 hits (3 to the ground), 1 hurry

Hoomanawanui - 1 sack allowed.

What is Richie Incognito is up to these days? Still not convinced he is the villain that he is being portrayed to be. Will Dante Scarnechia will be consulted regarding this situation or as usual BB will go on with this "we are moving on" approach. We will have to wait and see. I will be very surprised if there are no roster moves before the vikings come to town.
What would it take for you to be convinced? Him bashing the face of a teammate in with a bat? The guy is a loon. Why do you think he was ditched by the Rams? Why do you think that the Bills ditched him after 1 season?

Everytime somebody brings up that psycho all that they talk about is the Martin debacle. The only think I need to know about him as a human being is reading about the golf tournament incident [1]:

"The then 34-year-old volunteer told police that Incognito had been drinking, and when he was at the hole where she was working, he rubbed her privates with a golf club and knocked a pair of sunglasses off her head with it," wrote Candea. "'After that, he proceeded to lean up against her buttocks with his private parts as if dancing, saying 'Let it rain! Let it rain!' the report states. 'He finally finished his inappropriate behavior by emptying bottled water in her face.'"

Honestly, it doesn't matter how good he is.. I don't want to see him anywhere near Foxboro.

Exactly.. The guy is a malcontent.. If he was brought in Myra Kraft would come back to haunt Belichick..

EDIT: You can disagree all you want, BradyFTW, but facts aren't in your favor. One only has to look at Chrisitan Peter and Kenyatta Jones for support of this..

Based on our track record, all the malcontents of other teams that we picked up have tucked their tail between their legs and played their assess off and gotten a second life in their careers. The way I see it, he needs a gig to rehab his image and we need a guard to shore up the O line. so why not ?

Unless you really think Pats have lost the ability and cannot handle a malcontent in the locker room anymore, that is a different story ! Write a strict contract language and cut his ass if he even shows any symptom of his old self. Obviously they have to see how this line holds up this week against vikings before thinking of bringing outside help.

Just my 2 cents.

Could you show me the "malcontent" that the Patriots brought in that had sexually assaulted another person the way that Incognito assaulted the Volunteer at the Golf Tournament?

Could you show me the "malcontent" that the Patriots have brought in that had mentally tormented another teammate to the point where he threatened to do bodily harm to family memebers?

The Patriots have not brought in that sort of malcontent before. The one time where it was a potential (Christian Peter) the Pats CUT him before he put on a uniform.

I should only have to point out names like Peter and Kenyatta Jones for people to realize that the Pats aren't likely to consider Incognito.

hmmm, when you put it that way.... May be this guy is in a league of his own in terms of "malcontents".
you sir, have convinced me that this is a bad idea. :)

Lets see what they cook up for this weeks game

Given this history, if anybody thinks there is a chance in a million that Incognito gets picked-up by the Pats in the aftermath of the Ray Rice incident, they are utterly delusional.

Have the Pats ever brought in someone who allegedly (that's a pretty key word that you left out, there) committed sexual assault? Why yes, they have, just a few years ago.

Could you show me the "malcontent" that the Patriots have brought in that had mentally tormented another teammate to the point where he threatened to do bodily harm to family memebers?

That's awfully specific, but someone who was generally regarded as an awful locker room guy with questionable-at-best character? Sure, that's old news. Corey Dillon, Albert Haynesworth, Ted Washington, Randy Moss, and Aaron Hernandez were all known to have significant character red flags (and in most cases were known locker room malcontents) well before they showed up in New England.

Over the years, the Pats have repeatedly made it clear that they're willing to roll the dice on guys with major red flags if they're good football players at positions of need. And G is the biggest position of need on the team right now.

Love your work, Unoriginal. Great effort, as usual.

I'll get into ranting about the makeup of in another thread, but one thing I did look at was Solder's work without Mankins on his right. On one of his sacks, it seemed like he'd first shied right, as if to help out the guard, before then trying to catch up to the speed rusher on the outside. I'm wondering how much of that sack was of the nature of what I saw from Mankins dealing with Wendell last year, where concern about the linemate to his right is leading to slower work for the guy getting the 'blame'.

Solder's never going to be the player I think many thought he would, but I don't he was done any favors by this being the first real game he'd played without Mankins to bolster him.
I've been meaning to say this for a loooong time. I've held back for fear of retribution, but I never got the Solder love. I was excited when he came aboard, but have been underwhelmed. He just always seems to get beat. Him and Wendy just always seem to let someone thru

IMO this is the best thread on the board today that was started yesterday...one page.

Meanwhile, the space aliens are going "Gun Hoe!!!" gonzo bananas in a bunch of threads about....Danny Amendola. It's either insanity or open trolling but somebody has to step in and put a stop to this. I posted this back in JUNE and it's coming to fruition just as I said it would. Crazy ,open liars are doing exactly what was said would NOT be allowed to happen.

It's a great thread ,Unoriginal...one I would have expected to be 10 pages long by now...the paucity of replies is a pretty sad indictment of the kind of "posts" that pass for discussion this season.

Michael, you may need a new category, in addition to "like", "dislike", "agree", "disagree", "funny", "winner", and "useful", you may need to add "Super Nova Winner" (I'm not serious..mostly), which Joker's post qualifies for (as well as this thread).

What a breath of fresh air this thread by Unoriginal was.

However, as Joker says, only very limited responses on this remarkably informative post by Unoriginal, compared to the (what seem to be) the 100 page unending pissing match posts on "____ sucks...no he doesn't...yes he does...no he doesn't ...yes he does, etc., etc. (ad infinitum)".

If only there were more frequent threads like this one :D

Here's what Dan Koppen had to say this morning via Shalisa Manza Young:

"Koppen says to him line L to R should be Solder, Connolly, Wendell, Cannon, Vollmer"

As much as it pains me to say, that might be our best option, at least for Sunday.

Still don't know what's up with Kline. Can he really be worse than Devey? I'd still like to see a line of
Solder - Kline - Connolly - Cannon - Vollmer being given a chance.

So, you agree that Koppen is correct that the best #5 lineman would be Wendell. And yet, you would still like to see Kline as one of the linemen instead of Wendell?

Belichick really has had quite a bit to judge on. Before the season started, I agreed with you. However, Belichick judges that Devey is better than Kline. Kline was not even good enough to be active. I do agree that the Devey experiment should be over for awhile at least.

Wendell was injured. So, this issue may be a moot one. Your line may indeed be what happens. I do think it is clear that the team values Wendell much higher than posters do. Also, we posters haven't a clue whether Stork might be brought in, whether he is not expected to be active this year, or something in between.

The VERY GOOD NEWS is that most of the posters were correct (not me) in considering Cannon the #4 (or even #3) offensive lineman. Cannon did an OK job.

For all the gnashing of teeth, it seems that we have a solid set of FOUR offensive linemen, and a fifth (Wendell) that the team has some confidence in, even though they hope to upgrade him as soon as feasible.

The option that Koppen gives is so terrible only because we don't want Wendell on the field. It would seem that Stork and Fleming are not yet ready, and that Devey and Kline may not be able. AS OF NOW,
for the next few games, our best FIVE offensive linemen may be exactly who Koppen suggest they are.

Obviously, if Wendell is injured, Belichick will need to choose on of the others as a starter.
=====================
The OPEN question is whether and when we will get any help from the backups: Devey, Kline, Stork, Fleming, and Barker.

And just maybe (I suppose we can hope) Devey had a bad first game, and will eventually be much better.

As much as it pains me to say, that might be our best option, at least for Sunday.

Still don't know what's up with Kline. Can he really be worse than Devey? I'd still like to see a line of
Solder - Kline - Connolly - Cannon - Vollmer being given a chance.

If Bill has so little confidence in Kline that he was inactive v Miami, then Yes maybe Wendy should start
at Center just for continuity's sake, though I still don't understand how Kline went from starting at LG
vs Baltimore to where he is now.

If Devey is this Sunday who he was last Sunday, and if Kline is deemed not worthy to even dress, then both of them should be immediately waived on Monday, and 2 veterans signed to replace them.

Shame on Bill for allowing this mess to happen.
