Typical Josh McDaniels

Miami didnt look tired at all.

They rushed 4 a lot and could just tee off because of no threat of the run.

The team that's used to the heat and humidity of southern Florida handled it better than the team that was not used to it. How is that surprising, to anyone?

Patriots need to work on their screen plays badly, can't just let the D sniff it out that quick.

18:31-11:29 had a little something to do with it, as much as you don't want to face that fact.

But keep hiding behind finesse terms like "staying ahead of the chains" instead of seeing the reality right there in front of you.

2nd half series:
Third Quarter

First series
- pass for 3
- pass for 12 (first down)
- run for just 2, setting up 2nd and 8
- sack/fumble

Dolphins take advantage and score tying TD

Second series
- 3 passes and out

Dolphins drive the field and score FG

Third series
- run for -2
- pass for 14 (1st down)
- run resulting in holding penalty and 1st and 20
- inc/sack/9 yard run

How can you possibly be *****ing about the runs when that's what's happening?

7 passes and 3 runs. Twice as many passes.

I dont know what inc/sack/9 yard run, but a sack is a pass.

IIRC, the run with the holding was a long gainer the RB would have gained big yardage without the hold. You cant totally give up on the run and become 1 dimensional. Grind it out for 3.3 ypc and get first downs. Establish toughness.

What screen game? They threw 3 screen passes when it was still a game in the 2nd half and it wasn't because the defense was sniffing it out.

Have a guy that would have eaten those backup LBs up and they threw 1 short/screen pass his way the whole 2nd half and what do you know it was their biggest play of the 2nd half going for 12 yards.

Exactly! Their D was on the field only 11:29 in the 2nd half because the Pats were so intent on throwing the ball 27/6 and getting off the field as quickly as possible. .

Not only that, but OL have said over the years that they recieve more physical abuse pass blocking than run blocking.

Think about it. Pass blocking youre back in a defensive position waiting for impact. Run blocking youre the one who is deivering the punishment. Establish the run and you establish toughness.

Lots of things had to do with it. This isn't an issue of not facing a fact. This is you not understanding that the run wasn't working, and the team was still in it until the LaFell penalty changed the game.

Run blocking only establishes toughness if you can actually run the damned ball effectively, which NE could not do. If you can't run effectively, you end up with 2nd and 8, with pass rushers teeing off on your QB.

I realize that better than you know, but you said passing takes more out of the defense. Ive read the NE was worn out in the 2nd half.

NE passed 56 times and ran 20 times. Miami didnt look too tired.

Furthermore, why get in a shooting match with a team thats better conditioned to the heat? Makes no sense. Running would have slowed the game down and not only keep Moreno on the bench, but the PATS defense rested.

Establish toughness.

With whom? Who is the tough guy on the OL? I see no one.
Mankins was the tough guy, he was the enforcer, and they got rid of him.
I remember plenty of games last season which were won with a great run game, including the playoff against the Colts. And Mankins was clearly the best run OL.
Man I hope that losing Mankins will not come to bite this team in the ***

You cant just give up because Miami is trying to make your offense 1 dimensional.

The Pats did the exact same thing in the Super Bowl winning years. Take away the run and force the other team to the air. NE has 3 capable RBs that go unused.

It does

One team better prepared than the other. That's not play calling. That's coaching and conditioning.

Each team had one 6 minute drive. The Dolphins had two 4 minutes drives to the Patriots' one. Beyond that, there was no significant difference in the drive times.

As always, you confuse your opinion with fact.

The Patriots ran 14/61 4.36 ypc in the first half had a big advantage in ToP and has a 20-10 lead

They ran 6/27 4.5 ypc in the 2nd half, had a big disadvantage in ToP and were blasted 23-0.

When the Patriots went 29/14 PtoR in the first half, Brady was 19/29 for 187yds 1TD
When the Patriots went 27/6 PtoR in the second half, Brady was 10/27 for 62 yds.

......and you claim the problem was that the RUN wasn't working!!!!! :D :D :D. Sure!

Those are FACTS. You can try to obfuscate that as much as you want with writing your opinion as fact.

Either the scheme and play calling is bad or the players are not good enough.

THREE RB's?????? That will come as news to Deus. See post #37.

Who said anything about giving up? Despite all of Smessy's whining, they were 3 points down and got into FG range on the play where the OPI changed everything. I love how they can't give up the run, but it's ok for them to give up the pass.

Patsfans.com logic.

Anyone who watched the OL knows that the players weren't good enough on Sunday.

No-one here was saying to give up the pass. The problem was McDaniels went too pass heavy.

It's like the guy looks for an excuse to abandon the run and go pass heavy.

The flaw in your argument, of course, being that the passing game was not, in fact, equally ineffective.
You're right, it was far less effective. 10-27 Passing for 62 yards compared to 5 for 25 rushing with the 6th play a 20 yard run brought back by a penalty. Is this you staying ahead of the chains?
