Zolak: Sources Say Brady Overthrowing Edelman was "100% on Edelman"

Welker wide open in the SB - Brady sails the throw over him - Welker is blamed for the "drop"
Receivers wide open last season in the AFCCG - Brady sails throws over them - receivers are blamed
Edelman wide open this game - Brady sails throw way over his head - Edelman is blamed

Hmmmm. I see a pattern here.

Since it was such a discussed play to pointing the inefficiencies of Brady on the deep ball, I will pass along what Zolak said on 98.5. He said his sources with the team the overthrow of Edelman deep was "100% on Edelman" and that Edelman ran the wrong route.
I was just lisining to the sports hub and they played the audio clip and at fist zolak blamed Brady for it only a few seconds latter after watching a replay did he then blame Edelman for it so I'm not really sure whose fault it was.

, his man would have kept running with him and his separation wouldn't have been that much.

You think Edelman cares about separation?

Edelman has hauled in a fair share of passes tightly covered. Off the top of my head he had two catches in that game in tight coverage.

One where Finnegan fouled him and he was double covered and still came down with a 44 yard catch and another one for 22 yards where two guys were on him.

People want to make a big deal about Brady's misses in this game but he made some big throws too when the line was holding up in the 1st half.

sources? what sources? name these sources.

stop defending everything mistake Brady makes. He was terrible in the 2nd half even when he had time to throw.
that may be true, but that play was on Edeldude. IMO

and with all due respect, i think that Bedard is more objective than Zolak

that being said......Bedard, Felger, Mazz, and Beetle are must listen radio......im in heaven

That was during the game. I heard that too. On his show today, he said his sources told him that it was definitely Edelman.

I like Bedard's analysis, but Zolak was talking about a source who seems to know what play was actually called. Bedard admitted that he was guessing it was Brady based on how the play looked. Different things.

I love when Bedard is on the radio. He actually talks real football rather than the BS stuff most people do. He and Matt Chatham should do a radio show together.

Whether Edelman cares about separation or not is not the point. Both him and Brady's job is to read the defense and run the best possible route based on how the defense is playing that particular play. If that is the concept of our passing offense, how can Edelman be in the wrong if what he did was the better route vs what Brady wanted him to do?

Unless that was a predetermined route and Edelman didn't have options.

One thing we dont know is, who was at fault. One thing we do know is, in the Pats system, is the WR has to be at a predetermined spot.

fair enough......

really? since the loss ive been avoiding felger and mazz like the plague...I would expect its all "doom and gloom" and "the krafts are too cheap with their players"

Edelmans 44 yard pass was dropped in the pocket with pinpoint accuracy and if it wasn't it could have been intercepted because Edelman isn't a WR to jump and snag the ball from the defense consistently. As for Brady being a marginal deep thrower, show me a deep ball QB whose WRs don't help and make plays over the defense or beat the defense with pure speed and ability. Brady called his WRs pygmies, joking maybe but is he a little frustrated his WRs can't help him out and out jump a defender or jump and contort and reach to snag a 20 yard pass over the middle or at the sideline with pure speed and athleticism. He watches that most teams have a WR that can do that and or Great protection from the oline to allow the good but not great WRs to get open and make a play.Loser Lafell is a typical attempt at getting Brady a good tall or speedy WR

On that deep incompletion to Edelman, the route probably called for making a move and accelerating so Brady could throw him open. Edelman was already open and didn't need that move to get open. It isn't normal for Bradys WRs to get open or make a play deep without a play designed to get the WR open at the last second. Brady threw it assuming Edelman was going to make the designed move and acceleration, Edelman thought Brady would see he was already open and just throw it right to him and Brady threw it instead to the planned spot. Even Edelmans 44 yard pass, Brady dropped it in and Edelman didn't have to jump or reach and make a play. Edelman and Amendola aren't known to make deep plays on their pure talent so plays are designed to help them get open. That's my guess how they both misread each other

On the 44 yard completion, my recollection is that the ball was underthrown.

I'll take Zolak over Bedard any day. Ex-QB

"sources within the team" - Brady trying to put some lipstick on his pig of a game....
This is Brady not a Manning brother. When has he tried to pass the blame on anyone else?

It definitely wasn't a perfect throw; Edelman slowed up a bit for it, and if it had hit him in stride then he might've gained a lot more yards. It was a very slight underthrow, but despite not being perfect, it was still a very good pass.

May or may not have been his fault. Still bad pass.

Yeah - I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I'll take a 44 yard completion anytime.
