A closer look at Tom Brady’s game on Sunday

I wouldn't go as far as "no doubt". There's plenty of doubt IMO. The only other QB's to ever do it at that age were John Elway and Johnny Unitas. Don't know much about Unitas's colts, that was well before my time, but I remember those Bronco teams clearly. T.D was the centerpiece of those offenses. Elway complimented him at the end.

So I dunno. Could be a tall order.

The question was CAN they win with a 37 year old Brady not whether they will. I don't doubt they can, especially with this coach.

I suspect a lot of us just want Brady to keep on putting up those big stats to knock Peyton Manning out of the record books as much as he can, maybe to show up those uninformed fans and pundits who still call Brady a system QB.

I think it's interesting that the "system QB Brady" has won 3 Super Bowls and the "Manning wannabe Brady", along with Manning himself, has fallen short in recent years when it mattered most.

But with rules now...we won't see Ds like that anymore. Sucks.

I'm starting to think the Seahawks might have something to say about that...they clearly are the gold standard in the "new NFL" when it comes to defense.

God parts of this thread read like a huge garbage fire.

We lose the first game of the year and some jokers here are seriously discussing trading Brady..

Brady6, the thread was well meant but the amount of hysteria here makes it almost impossible to have a reasonable discussion.

In any case, I think you meant a great point about the fallacy of just looking at the numbers. Plays in the NFL are often so complex that it is essentially impossible to reduce them down to stats.

I think it is fair to say that Brady didn't have a good game in the second half. But not for the ******** reasons that the mediots are propagating (e.g. deep balls, accuracy) but because miscommunications are imho often on the two involved players.

LaFell was completely clueless on the deep ball in the closing minutes, not even running hard despite having beaten his man. No. No. No.

KT was guilty of this several times. Made a couple of Brady's throws look low when in fact had KT driven back to ball, they're easy catches

why was Aaron dobson inactive? he looked healthy from the 4th pre-season game. we couldve used his big frame sunday. I wonder if we will be seeing him active this sunday and Lafell inactive.

you can say its practice time, but Gronkowski got in the same amount of 11-11 practice time and he was active

This is exactly what I was talking about in a couple of other threads. There are multiple plays where it looks like Brady throws an egg when in fact the receivers are running a different route than Brady expects (late Edelman, even later Gronk). I don't know how this can happen so often in one game.

We can discuss how much Brady sucked because he read defenses different than all of his WRs, or was at fault for mixing up routes. But please lets stop talking about his accuracy and deep ball issues. Those were not really present last Sunday in Miami. He placed most of the balls where he wanted them, except the receivers were not where he was expecting them to be.

Are you even a pats fan or just a troll?

Die hard Pats fan, but Brady's inability to complete passes outside the numbers and downfield seems painfully obvious to me. He is really starting to remind me of Chad Pennington - the lollipop throws to the outside, the deep balls that seem to float in the air forever, the balls at the feet of receivers when he tried to put steam on his passes, etc. The realist in me sees a 37 yr old QB, who wasn't the most naturally gifted guy to begin with, losing his ability to make consistent NFL throws. To claim he looks like the same guy is just being willingly naive in my opinion. His skills, both pocket awareness and throwing ability, have declined. Does that mean I think Jimmy G is a better option at this point? No, but the list of QBs I'd rather have on this team grows with every Brady performance I watch.

Zolak just said that his sources tell him that the Brady overthrow to Edelman was "100% on Edelman" and Brady was expecting him to run a more outside route.

this should be a good thread to revisit at the end of the year
