A closer look at Tom Brady’s game on Sunday

Who do you think is in better shape physically right now Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? I would bet my house on Brady and it not even being close. Manning is protected and has reliable offensive weapons and he is playing as well as he ever has.

Hence the reason many of us feel that Tom will eventually begin to get fed up with this team unless they start to show him that they are willing to do the same. You cant blame the dude if/when he finally starts to get a little frustrated. Assuming that didn't already happen LAST season.

Pats can win a SB with a 37-38 yr old Brady no doubt.

I wouldn't go as far as "no doubt". There's plenty of doubt IMO. The only other QB's to ever do it at that age were John Elway and Johnny Unitas. Don't know much about Unitas's colts, that was well before my time, but I remember those Bronco teams clearly. T.D was the centerpiece of those offenses. Elway complimented him at the end.

So I dunno. Could be a tall order.

Dilfer also won a SB. If the teams D is lights out...it can make up for a 80% Brady is what I am getting at.

Agreed. But hell man, I could QB them to a SB with the 2000 Ravens defense. It's arguably the best defense of all time. lol

But with rules now...we won't see Ds like that anymore. Sucks.

Here are a few factors I think you are overlooking. First, Brady values his legacy and reputation in this area, he has Super Bowl rings, MVPs, and he is financially set for life. He wants to win with the best of them but he is not going to destroy his brand by forcing himself out of town.

Second, I think we all overlook that this offseason the team had things turn bad with Wilfork, and Wilfork wanted out, even demanded his release, but the Patriots rectified that situation, and continue to overpay Wilfork. I believe that was Kraft’s influence, I believe things went bad with Belichick and Wilfork, Belichick was willing to move on but Kraft stepped in because he understood the significance of Wilfork to this franchise and the Patriots brand.

If Belichick traded Brady after this season in a 5-year period, he would be the coach who:

- Trade one of the top 5 WRs of all time Randy Moss
- Lost the 2011 Super Bowl to a 9-7 Giants team that barely made the playoffs
- Let the best slot WR in the history of the NFL walk in UFA
- Gave Hernandez a $40M contract a month after Hernandez committed a double homicide in downtown Boston
- Traded his 6x pro bowl OG 2 weeks before the start of the season
- Traded the GOAT QB and moved forward with Jimmy Garopollo and undersized small school QB with a questionable arm.

I do not think that is the best look for Belichick personally. I think trading Brady would equate to him taking a gun and shooting himself in the temple.

They Pats will be fine. They got away from the game plan in the second half, and got stubborn trying to attack the Dolphins backup linebackers through the air.

If you watch the game again you'll notice a serious lack of Shane Vereen in the second half, as well as an obvious lack of screens and draws.

Did the offensive line have a tough second half? Yes, but the play calling was also unimpressive. I think they will look at the film and see that they could do a much better job of keeping those Miami pass rushers guessing and not just allow them to pin their ears back.

The fact that the notion of trading or cutting Brady is even being thought by anyone here much less talked about on the forum is disgraceful and embarrassing.

If I am a jets, bills or dolphins fan, this has to be the greatest weekend of football ever. The board went nuclear over 1 game that was gonna be tough to win anyways. I think too many had to high of expectations given the scenario at hand. It's if we don't shut the team down and win by 40, we suck.

Yes, I picked this as a loss for sure.

Also, we are our own worst enemy. At least if the board was reasonably graceful we could show that we are knowledgeable fans who understand that your team cant win every game. Instead it looks like a bunch of babies who cant handle a loss by their football team.

Nothing wrong with being disappointed, but some here are disgraceful.

Is it really THAT crazy to think Brady might start getting frustrated with the lack of support he's getting as he ages?

27 year old QB's dont want to spend a season getting knocked around, let alone 37yr old HOF'ers.

I dont think anyone here "WANTS" to see things go sour between Tom and the team, some are merely suggesting that it's something that could happen if they dont do better by him.

Brady is the ultimate team player. He doesn't just change his opinion overnight like you seem to think.

It is not crazy at all. Many legendary Boston athletes played in other uniforms. My beef isnt with that notion. Its the idiots who start in with Brady sucks, trade him, nonsense. There has not been a ton of it, but its out there, mixed in with a ton of other stupidity.

Brady is the best thing to ever happen to this franchise and potentially this league. He embodies everything that is good about the NFL at a time when so many others like Hernandez, Rice, etc. are destroying it's brand. You do not trade that and you do not cut that even if Belichick thinks you do Kraft will not sign off on it.

Team player or not. He's still a man. As a man, there's a limit to the amount of **** he'll put up with. No 37yr old QB wants to spend whatever years he has left getting smacked around behind a bunch of turnstiles. Im sure the guy wants to be able to play with his kids as pain free as possible when he finally does hang them up.

Bill needs to do better in protecting him. If not through better oline talent/play, then through better play calling or a Stud type RB ala Corey Dillion. Asking him to make up for all of the teams deficiencies is not fair to him at this point in his career. I think he showed some of that frustration early last season before he bottled it back up.
