***Ray Rice---The Whole Video*** [Update: Ravens release Rice]

... I wonder if his wife will stay with him now? Now that the money will no longer be there?

Posters in the Ravens forum are calling for the NFL to forgive the cap hit because 'they did the right thing'. Like how that worked out for the Pats re: Hernandez.
Don't be surprised if they do see some relief if or before the pats see anything. remember. Rice made a plea to lesson the charge. So as far as the courts are concerned its case closed.

People, don't fool yourselves: Ray Rice's career is not over. Time will pass, the furor will die down, and someone else will do something else to get everyone all riled up. This will become yesterday's news, and some team will sign him and it won't be that big of a deal.

Just look at something else that happened today: The NCAA quietly lifted the sanctions against Penn State. There's no outrage and no one cares because Penn State is yesterday's scandal. Sooner or later, Ray Rice will just be yesterday's scandal, and someone will sign him.

I actually agree with that. Everyone involved is gone and why should the players be punished?

Apparently Goodell has suspended him indefinitely.
If the owners have any sense of decency and gonads, Goodell will be suspended indefinitely. That MF lied. He saw the tape and so did the Ravens. They both can console one another about embracing Ray Lewis and tell themselves that at least Rice didn't kill her.

I don't want to sidetrack this into a discussion about that, but my point is that this story completely dominated sports media 2 years ago (like Ray Rice is dominating the media today). People wanted them to throw the book at Penn State (like people want them to throw the book at Ray Rice). Then everyone moved on and eventually no one gave a crap (like no one will give a crap when Ray Rice gets reinstated).

Where is your evidence that he saw the tape? We have a couple unnamed sources, and that is certainly what some mediots at the time reported, but I am very curious to know whether or not they had this tape so I am wondering what, if any, solid evidence there is that they had it.

Swift, decisive "justice" by the Ravens and NFL.... wonder if the Raven fans can take back their ovation for Ray...

Peter King, Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter all reported at the time the discipline was meted out that Goodell and the Ravens saw the tape. That was the rationale for the light sanction, that there was evidence on the tape which supported Rice's position.

A slew of the biggest names in NFL reporting were assuring us that the league had seen the video and it played a part in the 2 game suspension. Among them, Adam Schefter and Peter King. Schefter was ripped on espn this morning.

That video was absolutely damning. He basically hit her with a left after crowding her into the corner, then hit her with a right hook. I've been in a relationship where I got hit in the face by by girlfriend a lot of times when we fought, but there is never usually a good excuse for hitting a female. This looks to be one of those cases. Rice is a scum bag. They'll probably erect a statue for him in Baltimore now.

I'm completely embarrassed for the NFL and for the Ravens. Even taking at face value the claim that this is the first they had seen the video, what difference does it make? You already knew she had been knocked unconscious one way or another; hard to conceive of some way of accomplishing that feat that isn't just as brutal.

Yes, that I was aware of. I'm just wondering what the basis for those reports were. All I am seeing is a bunch of reports based on unnamed sources, and we all know what those are worth.

I am honestly curious as to whether or not the NFL had that part of the tape and I honestly admit I don't know. The haters are gonna hate, but I refuse to base opinions without at least some basis in fact first.

"A lot of times"..?

I had a girlfriend hit me once. I did nothing but cover up as best as I could until she calmed down and then I left the room as soon as possible once I was able to without, like, barreling through her. I dumped the ***** the very next day. She didn't hurt me physically one bit, but just the fact that she did what she did ends the relationship immediately AFAIC, no reprieve, no chance for parole.

Maybe if (to quote you) you didn't have such a small pee pee you would be a man and dump any woman who laid hands on you in anger.

I see the NCAA reduced sanctions on Penn State today. Way to go, NCAA, you wouldn't want to be outclassed by the NFL today.

Didn't the NFL and the Ravens see this footage before deciding on the suspensions? Apparently they're claiming they didn't, but at the time wasn't it common knowledge that they had? If so, they obviously didn't have a change of heart; they've made it clear how (non)serious they feel this is; just preemptively capitulating to the bad PR they're sure to get.

So no, making the right call a month after making the wrong call is still better, but it doesn't excuse the initial call.

After it became apparent that this was going to be an ongoing issue, I did.

Hit close to home with the small pee pee remark, eh?

I think the NFL underestimated the public outrage here, but let's be honest: The public outrage is based in very large part on the fact that actual video exists. This is hardly the first case of domestic violence in the NFL. Heck, we've had 2 such cases in the past week alone. The exact same Ray Rice incident with no video footage gets about 1/10th the attention it otherwise received.

Why is hardly anyone talking about Ray McDonald and Quincy Enunwa? Well, because there's no footage released.
