***Ray Rice---The Whole Video*** [Update: Ravens release Rice]

Florios a deuche bag what did expect.

Oh, he's a thin-skinned, little weasel of a d-bag. There's no dispute about that.

He may have just been stirring things up last month when he questioned if the league had seen the 'inside the elevator' footage. The gist of his article was that the league knew the video released today existed and it wouldn't have been unreasonable for them to review it. Since the league declined to comment about it, he assumed that they hadn't seen it (though he does hint that he knows the league didn't obtain the video).

The league looks bad in either scenario; They either made their decision without looking at all the evidence. Or they looked at all the evidence and still decided to go with a slap on the wrist. Someone should tell Goodell that all his "protecting the shield" talk applies to him, too.

Madden 2014 should really incorporate a "smack the b.tch senseless" option in their game, with points awarded for one punch knockouts.

And now, predictably:

The league office has the choice of looking like boobs or co-conspirators. It appears they prefer to look like boobs. Lovely.

So the NFL, a multi billion dollar industry, is saying that TMZ has better investigators than they do??

Yeah, that's the ticket! This might be Goodell's undoing. He should suspend himself. I bet the Krafts, Rooneys, and Maras of the NFL are blowing up his phone right now!

I can hardly wait for MNF. This ought to be a hoot. How many statements from the myriad of apologists will be quoted? I bet none. I've argued with people over this many times with my position that there was nothing that she could have done barring a weapon that deserved this and still......

Crickets and lame excuses from the Rice Lovers....

I wonder if Dungy will still have the love fires burning for him?

Like others have said : Why is he not in prison? The hell with the NFL. This guys should not be walking the streets...... BTW, I saw the the Ravens board mods edited out the video on the OP's thread

There is one of two scenarios here:

1) They saw the entire video and decided to ignore it.
2) They didn't see the entire video, knew it existed, and decided they didn't want to see any more. It's called plausible deniabilty. Don't think for a minute they didn't know this video existed.

OTOH, he should have been slapped in jail almost immediately for assault and battery at the very least.

It's pretty sad that the overwhelming majority of people care more about what the NFL is doing than what the court system is doing.

It's not the NFL job's to punish this guy. (Or Josh Gordon, etc, etc.)

It's also sad how Ray Rice is the "tipping point" for people though, as if the NFL is otherwise filled with upstanding citizens. If these people had that high of a moral integrity, they'd refuse to watch a league that employs Ben Roethlisberger, Terell Suggs, Micheal Vick and rosters where 70%+ of the guys are on PEDs (which only contributes to overly-aggressive violent behavior off the field).

No doubt Ray Rice is a piece of ****, but once again, the fact that people are still totally alright with Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Vick being around just makes it clear that this type of behavior isn't enough to actually make fans turn the games off.

The same talking heads who will be ripping the NFL apart in one segment will proceed to then talk about Jamies Winston (from a completely neutral, football-only standpoint, as if that whole "rape thing" never happened) in their next segment. The absolute TRAGEDY of an "investigation" that occurred there should be the lead-story on SportsCenter everyday. Alas, the media doesn't actually have true moral integrity. They're more about jumping on the bandwagon "hot topic" (Ray Rice, Redskins-team name, Donald Sterling).

Never in any other thread have I clicked the like buttons so much. Everyone has nailed it. There is something really really really wrong with just about every aspect of this. I don't even know anymore.

Remember, these are the clowns who removed a video and edited an article because that idiot Blandino described a rule incorrectly which lead to the Patriots losing against the Jets last year.

They higher ups at the league are very, very shady people so it's no surprise they've taken the look like bumbling idiots option.
To be fair they just removed an article on NFL.com. The rule book never changed. The actual, real, NFL did nothing wrong there. If the Pats uses NFL.com articles to look up rules then the Pats ****ed up. Can't blame the actual NFL for that.

I thought everyone knew there was an angle from inside the elevator, but that it hadn't been released publicly. It's pretty common knowledge that most elevators have some sort of camera inside them. The whole "we didn't know this video was out there durrrrr" line of ******** isn't going to fool people.

While we can all hope this is the beginning of the end of Goodell's reign, the real issue is how Rice avoided prosecution.

NFL.com has nothing on the Ray Rice video/situation that I can see at this time. All the news we want you to see, all the time.

What Goodell and company are doing is so completely wrong. They are preying on the minds of the apologists to carry them through this debacle. Right or wrong has no bearing when there is money to be made. What scum.

But what is wrong with us as a species that we would be so swayed by fandom or whatever the motivation is to apologize for this kind of violence? While the majority of Ravens fans are condemning this, many are not. How can anyone blow this off with full video footage? Note that there are two videos available (one edited and one not) and this is being used to cast doubt on events even though a complete account exists. It makes me want to vomit.

Female moderator of the Ravens forums:
Regardless of the video, I think the decisions were made, and opinions have been stated, to the enth degree. That TMZ chooses to hold on to this and release it on the opening day of the season is ridiculously ridiculous... A complete PR move. It's truly sad that this "company" relied on this for that reason. Just when it calms down they want to drag it into the season.

Yes, Shame on Ray... it's understood and has been for months now... Let's not give TMZ the publicity they are looking for. I have always considered them the National Enquirer of the celebrity world.

And another female moderator:
not excusing the Rice's of any wrongdoing, but that video was definitely edited (if not tampered with by TMZ or someone) as you can tell it has been spliced together because at the end of it you can clearly hear the sound cut in and out twice, also that is probably the purpose of it being played in slow motion so the editing isn't so obvious. Did anyone else notice that you actually never see Rice's hands, just blurs. I'll reserve judgment until I see the official, unedited version. Just sayin'.

Other comments:
Yeah that was bad but my forgiveness of his actions still doesn't change and life goes on. I don't know what was being said and probably more to this video than we know but it is what it is.

Yeah I believe there is more footage out their if it wasn't then both him and wife wouldn't have been arrested and charge with assault . I don't think she deserve what she got and it's never reasonable for any one in a relationship to put hands on each other.

My forgivness of Ray Rice stays unchanged and hopefully him and wife situation gets better as they continue to get help . I'm very disappointed in Rice and I don't support violence at all.

Actually guys I don't see how you get anything the skipping in the video shows some Amature tampering there are missing frames , not defending rice but this is about as conclusive that both parties are at fault , do not think might makes right or that damage vs non damage , they assaulted eachother re watch it

I agree , here is where I have to air on the side that if you charge one you charge both, not saying the suspension is not warranted but I think Mandatory Counselling for both parties should be part of that now that they are married .... that should be part of the requirement both parties not just one complete a course . but the problem is most courses are run by people who see women as never being able to be the assailant.

The video is pretty disturbing, but it does bear out the hypothesis that Janay struck first. Ray retaliated and then pre-emptively struck her again.

If this were a video of Ray and a male friend you could even be looking at a self defense case, instead of third degree aggravated assault. I am also starting to think that if this incident occurred in a different state the charges levied against Ray may not have been so severe. This doesn't excuse either of their actions, however.

You can't be tried twice for the same crime in the court of law, but brace yourselves, the court of public opinion is about to go for round two.

His hand was open both times, so they appeared to be slaps. But you're right, that doesn't exonerate him from what he did. I'm just wondering if TMZ or their source did some not so creative frame removal to hide what she did to him.

I'm ignoring Patsfans garment rending after an emotional loss but this thread is too important to ignore. We need to find ways to pressure owners (Bob Kraft this means you...no more apologist for Goodell here) the NFL, its media apologistas (sic) and whomever until Goodell is gone and the league office really cleans its act up.

As an aside I expect I'll be pretty much away from Patsfans for travel reasons the next couple weeks, so no rejoicing in my non-permanent absence.

Another thing...I'm seeing this line of logic (pushed by Ravens fans no doubt) that the video doesn't change anything because we all knew she was unconscious when he pulled her out of the elevator.

It DOES change everything because the primary line of logic being put forth by the NFL and Baltimore was that he was just trying to defend himself and took it too far or some nonsense. The video clearly shows otherwise.

Not for nothing, but someone who hits someone he purportedly "loves" like that probably does it on the regular.

Rice is done IMO.

Now with players speaking out... it's probably better for him if he doesn't step on a football field anytime soon.

I'm stunned that the NJ courts gave him a diversion program and not jail for that assault. First offense, does that mean you get one free shot in NJ??? The best situation for the league now would be for the Ravens to suspend him for 2-4 more games and give the league some "cover". Not likely to happen .......
