Game Thoughts: They stunk like fish today

This is a top 5 defense? LOL. Nowhere near it. The offensive line looked like **** too. Good job trading Mankins.

I'll bet if we watch the film, we'd agree that Cannon was the best Pats Offensive lineman today.

Thats like like lining up piles of horse ****, dog ****, pig ****, lamb ****, and goat **** on a table and saying the dog **** smelled the best. The OL was putrid today. Both run blocking and in pass protection.

That's the alarming thing about the pass protection. It wasn't just the interior OL that failed today. The tackle play was miserable too.

I agree, and to my eye the breakdown was so complete and across the line that I thought it pointed more to mental errors and lack of cohesion more than physical inadequacies (there were some of those too). The middle of the line is largely new. If this is right, the coaches need to stick with their guys, get them to learn to trust one another and focus only on their responsibilities. Changing personnel ******s this cohesion and development as a unit and would be a decision of last resort. The decision to play these guys was not based on one game and the decision to replace them will not be based on one game either. I expect the OL to remain intact next week and to play better. At a minimum, they ought to be able to approach last year's performance, and perhaps exceed it as Gronk and Wright acclimate. BB knows that the likelihood of success depends on Brady being upright and comfortable. There need s to be major improvement right away, but I think it will be more from strategy than personnel.

When I began counting, I counted four drop backs that Brady wasn't hit. And I started counting halfway through the 2nd quarter. So, I would say it's a mixture of confusion and talent simply because I don't think any OL can be THAT confused. That was honestly the worst line play, on both sides, that I have seen from this team since BB started coaching.

I thought it was alarming that Brady got hit on every play. No play was easy for him hopefully the o line improves along with the Run D Moreno went willed his team just by his running

It was historically bad. But I don't think each of these guys suddenly and simultaneously became inept. I think it is partly a product of the late Mankins trade and coaches not knowing how to fill the hole. What they decided on had the entire interior line different from last year and different from what had played most of the pre-season. There were also break downs from RBs who missed some chips and TEs as well that made the OTs look bad. The coaches now have to figure out how to put the players in positions to succeed (no pun intended). They may need to simplify some responsibilities to reduce mental errors. I hope that they can correct things soon and by Nov be performing at a high level. Meanwhile, they can only get better Sunday.

I rarely second guess BB but I'm thinking they could of used Kelly out there today vs Moreno. The run d was just god awful. It really effected the rest of the defense and the ability to make any kind of plays in the passing game.

Actually, everything was terrible in that 2nd half. Props to Miami and that oline and that dline. Much improved and they came out swinging when they could of just laid down.

I think the Pats will get it together though. Miami mostly is a tough place to play for this team.

I was underwhelmed with Dominic Easley today too.

A rookie player coming of a major injury who missed the entire preseason in his first NFL game and you were underwhelmed by him. That's it. You convinced me, he's a bust. Maybe the Pats can trade him for a conditional seventh.

Revised needs to go back to his island. Having him chasing around the other teams #1, it doesn't help the other DBs....I'd rather see himshut down a side and let the others worry about the rest

There are often good performances by individual players even in the worst games.

Guys could we potentially see stork at center and some shuffle on the inside of the oline
Seems like the obvious move, Stork to Center, Connelly to RG, Devey to the bench. Not saying thats a great line but it gets our top five OL on the field.

Well, I have to see film. I can't go on just watching the game. Bravo if you can.
I was at the game. The OL play was something I was watching specifically. I will say Cannon was the strongest link on the OL today but he still had his fair share of whiffs. Keep in mind I've been advocating for Cannon at guard for years now.

We've historically had problems with speed rushers off the edge and today wasn't an exception. We've always had problems with Wake who eats Solder's lunch and has been doing so for a few years. I know it's tempting to blame Mankins's departure but the issues were mostly one on one battles that were simply lost.

On D, we were just getting beat on IZ run, not holding the POA, not shedding blocks, plugging gaps or filling holes.. poor tackling as mentioned. Moreno seems to get up for us (he did last year). Not sure what made Philbins hit us repeatedly with IZ in the 2nd half, but he or someone must have seen something because it turned the game around, so credit him for that. Miami was really pumped today- didn't really see that from us.

Don't really see anything that can't be fixed.

But we are in last place in our division, first time we've been there since 2001, so excuse me while I go find a ledge to jump off now.

The first Dolphins TD was a gift from the Pats' punting team. The second Dolphins TD was actually broken up by Revis and Wallace was able to catch it off his knee. The only time they broke and I would say the red zone defense let the Pats down was on the third TD.

Miami started from the 15 and scored a TD. How is that not a clean loss for the red zone defense?

How the hell is it that Denver can afford the players they have and the Pats can't???
Friggin Emanuel Sanders is lighting it up tonight for Denver. And Brady gets to throw to Kembrell Thompkibs while the Kraft's pocket 13 mil in cap space. Are you ****ting me???

We chose LaFell over Sanders. We signed Sanders to an offer sheet that would have cost us a #3 eighteen months ago then when he was a UFA six months ago we ignored him. Why ? Your guess is as good as mine.
