yup

Ex-Giants news: Kelcy Quarles heads to Patriots practice squad and Andre Brown banned 8 games | NJ.com

Giants seem to make a point of not signing him again, since they put a different DL as the10th on the practice squad.

I hope so, though I'll wait for the formal announcement.

Regardless of whether Quarles sticks or not, Seattle's DL performance tonight is a good reminder of the value of having a deep stable of guys who can generate pressure, and who can play a physical, aggressive brand of defense.

Precisely my thoughts while watching last night's harassment of Rogers.
I think we see what BB is attempting to do with this year's squad and why Kelly was released and why he's sorting through a slew of young legs. Trying to build a cadre of faster guys with pass rush abilities. It may be that that is what he sees in (gulp!) Becquette, someone who has the potential yet unrealized ability to apply pressure from the edge. Keep him in reserve on the PS for the inevitable season wearing injuries.

Exactly.

We've tried old worn up legs in Shaun Ellis, Andre Carter (at least he gave us 1 good season) and Will Smith. Old legs without any pop to them aren't going to do the job.

I don't mean to obsess about Quarles. He was a UDFA for a reason, and he clearly has some development to do. I understand that he's unlikely to step in and have an immediate impact. But Michael Bennett was a UDFA once, too (ironically originally signed by Seattle, then picked up by TB after the Seahawks cut him). Quarles seems to have some "pop" to his game that I don't see from Joe Vellano. Regardless of whether Quarles is a keeper or not, getting a stable of young guys with some ability to create pressure in different packages seems like a useful (and cost-effective) way to go. That was also part of my intrigue with guys like Jerel Worthy and Martez Wilson, though I suspect both have worn out teams' patience.

I will be surprised if Quarles does not show up again on the 53 man roster.

I agree. I think he was cut to the PS just to give him some time to learn the playbook and system, and because of immediate needs for Miami. Hopefully he gets promoted soon and sticks.
