Do you think he could play a role similar to Percy Harvin?

I love those end-around and sweep plays Seattle runs with Harvin and I think it would be a nice wrinkle in our offense as well

Same height. 10-15 lbs heavier. A faster 40 time (Boyce 4.34, Harvin 4.41)

I think we've ran a few similar plays with Edelman and Amendola but those guys aren't as explosive.

Thoughts?

I think you mentioned this in another thread and the answer is still no. Boyce is fast on the track and slow on the field. Boyce sucks at running routes. Boyce can't cut and move like Harvin does.

Him even being on our 53 (barring injuries to others) is a huge if at this point. Maybe I'm being too hard on Boyce. I think it's because I'm so greatly disappointed in him.

I would focus on Boyce making the 53-man roster and then the 46-man game day roster before I started thinking about him being used like Harvin.

Boyce could be used in that role, but I doubt he makes our 53 man roster unless injuries strike again.

We have Vereen if they want to run those plays.

Boyce is pretty good at cutting, that was the one impressive thing he showed last year. That Browns game he juked a few defenders out of their cleats.

You mean one?

Doesn't Edelman kind of play that role?

Watching Boyce play... I see a guy who plays the game without a fire. Like a guy who suddenly realized his natural talent isn't going to be enough anymore.

Boyce kinda blows. I'm surprised the team feels his is one of the best 63 at this point.

I think its more that they invested a 4th round pick in the guy last year and he does have nice speed if he can put it together so they want to give him more time.

But, it doesnt look good imo. he got beat out last year/this year by Thompkins a 25year old undrafted FA who is looking like a nice find.

This is why looking at the results of the Underwear Olympics is a waste of time once a player actually gets on the NFL field. It doesn't matter what Boyce's 40 time was. It matters what his game speed is, and whether his college game abilities translated to the NFL.

At this point we should not even mention Boyce and Harvin in the same sentence.

I like receivers making running plays though, I remember a few runs by Hernandez, always catch the defense off guard.

So basically, if Boyce can get better can he play a Percy Harvin role?

Yes. But you could say that about all the fast WR's... that doesn't mean they will become like a Percy Harvin though.

LOL people need to give up on Josh Boyce, much like the Patriots have.

Unfortunately, you are correct on every count. Boyce has shown no ability whatsoever to remotely resemble Percy Harvin, despite his impressive measurables on paper.

If the patriots had give. Up he wouldn't be on the PS right now...obviously

What I don't under is why they don't do the combine in pads for all the drills with any running involved?

The easiest thing Boyce could do to seem more like Percy Harvin would be to suffer bad migraines. Otherwise, I'll just for continual improvement from him.
