Seahawks vs Packers

Lol @ Sherman covering the Packers' 3rd-4th option all game and getting praised for being thrown at 0 times

I have nothing against him unlike a lot of non-Seahawks fans, but I can't take anyone serious for claiming he's the best in the league. Revis and Peterson are ahead of him IMO.

And there will be very little talk about when he continues to do it all season like he has done for the past few seasons. But if Revis stays on one side all game in Miami regardless who is lined up across him there will be numerous negative articles how Revis doesn't travel anymore.

Watched only a few series of the GB@SEA game, but was a) impressed again by the speed and aggressiveness of Seattle's defense, b) not-so-impressed with GB overall, and their defense in particular. If the Patriots offense is clicking by the time the trip to Lambeau Field rolls around, the Pats can definitely run and throw on that team. There is huge pressure on the GB linebackers to hunt down every ball carrier because their DL looked out-of synch.

Watching 3rd rounder Russell Wilson gave me encouraging vibes about Jimmy Garoppolo. Neither one is especially impressive physically, but both make quick decisions and get the ball out fast. Wilson puts pressure on defenses with his quick release, and the way they run that running game with Beast Mode and Percy Harvin as a threat to run or take swing passes out of the backfield.

This. Lynch and Harvin are a really fun combo to watch.

Would be nice to use Boyce similarly, if he picked up his game

In terms of speed: Harvin runs a 4.41, Boyce - 4.34 with broken toe (and Dobson ran a 4.43)

Why is Peterson even lumped into that list(at least with Sherman and Revis)? That guy gets beat quite often imo

Two Words: Game speed.

Every time I watch him I come away impressed. {shrugs}

In your opinion he gets beat quite often? Wat? Peterson is up there with Revis, Haden, and Sherman as the best in the league. If you think he gets beat often, you haven't watched him enough.

IMO, the best in the league are Revis and Peterson. Both of those guys are head and shoulders above Sherman.

How does Sherman fit in that class when he is spending a good amount of his time covering #2 and #3 WRs? What did he cover Nelson 4 times last night. If Sherman wants to be the best CB in the NFL he needs to match up with the best WRs every down and prove he can shut them down. Until he does that, he can have all the great stats he wants and run his mouth but he is not even in my top 5.

Harvin is a very good player, has a ton of ability but as I said earlier in the thread availability is the most important ability and he misses too many games throughout his career.

I do not agree with that, Wallace is not any better than Hartline in my opinion is so Revis following Wallace around is not necessary. I do not know why anyone is thinking that Belichick not going to have Revis shadow a specific receiver, he did it with Talib a lesser CB so why would he not do it with Revis this year.

Sherman doesn't change sides and I'm sure that is a decision from the DC, not from Sherman. If you're a team, don't you want your #1 WR to go to the side Sherman isn't on? And the side Sherman isn't on will still be played by a decent CB who also has the help of Earl Thomas. It's lose-lose for offenses either way.

Seattle's success speaks for his impact. Watch Aaron Rodgers last night. Easy to play defense when you know where the QB is going with the ball. I really don't care that much about who he is facing as long as he eliminates one side of the field.

Peterson gave up some 7 TDs last year. That would be a decent season for a no.1 receiver

I think he is a good CB with a lot of talent. I just think Sherman and Revis are more established and are the top dogs.

All tho I agree that last year is last year, I think its a bit silly to act as if the seahawks haven't already proven themselves. They just won the SB and in their first game of 2014 they dominate the green bay packers. The seahawks are more than proven. I agree with the other poster. Until proven otherwise I think they are the team to beat and the best team in the NFL. That doesn't mean things can't change between now and the end of the year... but I think that's the way it is right now.
They won the SB last year and this year they are 1-0...I am obviously missing something here....i get your point, they won last year and this year they looked good against Green Bay for 60 minutes...

You can disagree with it all you want. I'm just saying watch the national mediots go negative on Revis if he stays on one side of the field all game or they will try to pin it that BB is using him like Sherman. Because they forget that outside of a few catches last year the likes of Kyle Arrington and Marquice Cole contained Mike Wallace.

Pro Football Focus, eh?

I'm not usually one to pimp Bleacher Report either, but I read this after he signed his deal. It's very illuminating. Give it a looksee.

Actually read it from Shermans twitter when they had their little arguments. I'm guessing PFF is behind those numbers

But Sherman was just recently a key player on one of the best defenses ever and all he did was make plays. So imo. it's Revis and Sherman.

If Revis stays on one side of the field, the media will note that this is a Patriots choice, just as they noted that him playing in a lot of zone last year was a Bucs choice.

Ya the boston media and smart national media guys will note that. The idiots will drum up the whole Richard Sherman role thing.
