Seahawks vs Packers

I can't rid myself of the feeling that if you shutdown Seattle's rushing attack (Lynch/Harvin/Wilson) and force them to pass, they can be beaten. Sure, they are a defensive juggernaut, but I see question marks in their Offense.

If the Patriots retain health and protection holds up, I don't see any reason why Brady can't exploit the gaps in Seattle's D to beat them.

Some truth to that. In the last two years (including playoffs), when rushing for less than 124 yards, SEA is 7-5. In such games Wilson threw for ~204 ypg. Keep in mind that was pre-Harvin.

We don't have to wait for you to crown them because they are already crowned.

Until proven otherwise, the are the the team to beat.

As good as we think the Pats are or can be, they need to prove it.

...as do the Seahawks...last year is last year...

I got into an argument with someone over this. Seahawks are champs from 2013. No team is champion this season. Seahawks aren't going around handing out title shots like this is boxing or UFC. They have to do the same thing every other team has to -- get to the playoffs, get to the Super Bowl.

I would just like to say that putting Sherman on the Packers 3rd best WR is a waste.

I don't believe that Rodgers is as good as Brady or that the Packers O will be as balanced as the Patriots O. Not going once in Sherman's direction was absurd. He's a good player but his reputation is fast becoming greater than Ben Hur.

I'd be happy to line anyone of Gronkowski (orgasmic), Edelman, Amendola, Dobson, LaFell or Thompkins on Sherman and have them get open with excellent play design and skill execution. The sticking point would be stopping the Seahawk's pass rush.

Sherman is overrated as he only stays to the left side. All you have do to is lineup your best receivers on the other side.

The Green Bay Packers offensive line does not look as good when the starting center is out for the game and the starting right tackle goes down with a knee injury during the game.

anyone else other than me think the Packers are paper tigers? at least this year.

I haven't been impressed by the Packers in years. They're just not a very physical team, and they wilt against teams like the 49ers and Seahawks who overpower them. Smash them in the mouth and they seem like they just fold.

Michael Bennett noted today:

"Obviously we were the more physical team today offensively and defensively," Bennett told reporters after Seattle's 36-16 win. "I saw supposedly some of the best players in the league not want to tackle Marshawn Lynch. Of course, nobody's going to say nothing about that, but I saw a lot of guys whiff on tackles that should have been 2-yard gains, and they're supposed to be the best. We had to prove that we're the best defense."

Poor tackling is a technical issue, but I also think that GB just got their asses whipped on both sides of the line, and weren't up to the physical challenge.

@mayoclinic summed up my position succinctly.

But that means they have to game plan for one side of the field since the other side you won't be able to throw too.

I keep seeing Arizona getting touted as a top team. Why? They lost Dockett, their quarterback is Carson Palmer, and they play in the NFCW. Why are people expecting them to be in contention?

Aside from their run game, their offense is gimmicky. Wilson either throws for a 20-30 yard completion or nothing. Rarely do you see 5-15 yard completions. It's working for them though, so there's that.

1. Their defense is still pretty awesome and Dockett is on the decline anyway. Campbell has been the secret sauce for that DL for years.
2. Carson Palmer is good enough to take them places
3. Best OL they've had in... ever.
4. Fitzgerald, Floyd, Ellington, Housler and Carlson are great weapons

Palmer is good enough to take them to the playoffs maybe (SF and Seattle are still in that division) but I don't see him taking them anywhere near an NFCCG, let alone a Super Bowl. Dockett has been impressive in the last couple of years and still commanded double teams. His loss is a big one. Their secondary and WR corps are stacked, though.

All tho I agree that last year is last year, I think its a bit silly to act as if the seahawks haven't already proven themselves. They just won the SB and in their first game of 2014 they dominate the green bay packers. The seahawks are more than proven. I agree with the other poster. Until proven otherwise I think they are the team to beat and the best team in the NFL. That doesn't mean things can't change between now and the end of the year... but I think that's the way it is right now.

The Packers is a team full of holes, they have a top QB that besides any injury will lead them to the playoffs, but not in the top tier, I believe the Vikings will give them a hard time in the division.

It is interesting when you look at our defense compared to the Seahawks; it makes me think if we do not have similar results we really need to consider if we are using the right scheme.

LE – Avril | Ninkovich
DT – McDaniels | Easley
NT – Mebane | Wilfork
RE – Bennett | Jones
WLB – Irvin | Collins
MLB – Wagner | Mayo
SLB – Wright | Hightower
LCB – Sherman | Revis
RCB – Maxwell | Browner
FS – Thomas | McCourty
SS – Chancellor | Harmon/Wilson/Chung

I'd say the Bears rather than the Vikings

Lol @ Sherman covering the Packers' 3rd-4th option all game and getting praised for being thrown at 0 times

I have nothing against him unlike a lot of non-Seahawks fans, but I can't take anyone serious for claiming he's the best in the league. Revis and Peterson are ahead of him IMO.

I don't trust Cutler. A team without a QB will not make the playoffs in a division that have a legit franchise QB, unless they make the wild card.

I believe the Vikings are better at QB with Cassel / Bridgewater. Not that they are better than Cutler as QB's purely speaking, but I believe they won't fuk up some game like Cutler always does at least twice in a season.
