Please tell me something good about RB James White.

As a few others have said -- although it's still early -- he could be our diet Shane Vereen.

Maybe your right about the blocking ability. I have not seen enough of him to label him Kevin Faulk 2.0

If he is nothing more than a 3rd down back, we could pick up
Lache Seastrunk today and we would 't have to drink the Kool aid to make him look good.

I do appreciate the feedback.

I like Seastrunk but he can't block at all (it's why he was cut).

...and he's not a proven receiver, either. He's fast and shifty as all get out, but doesn't have the skill set of a "3rd down back" at all at this point.

College stats don't mean much but White's 39 catches last year for Wisconsin are more than Vereen ever had in a single season in college. He showed himself to be a solid collegiate receiving back with his ability to catch and pass-block.

Whether or not that translates to the pros remains to be seen. But he has the college background to suggest he can be a solid "receiving back."

Suggesting he doesn't have the skill set is a big jump from saying he is unproven in the NFL (like any rookie). I think the former is quite an inaccurate statement given what he showed in college.

umm...we were talking about Lache Seastrunk, not James White. The passing game is White's strong suit.

It's pretty amazing how impatient people are with draft picks. I didn't think the g ran between the tackles well either - who does? But since when do we write a rookie off based on pre-season games in his first year? It's ridiculous. What has happened to pats fans? Maybe he will develop, maybe he won't. But let's give it more than the imperfect scenario of learning a play book, playing tentatively, thinking too much, and running behind an up and down line, sometimes with backups. Jeez.

welcome to the brave new Morphworld of NFL fanship, JC...every moron with a 3rd grade education and a win in a fantasy league is now considered GM equivalents or better to any REAL NFL staffs. It used to be well known and universally accepted that one judges a draft three years out...not today. Today, if you get hurt, you suck and must be cut.If you get drafted, you must start and be all pro or you're a bust and Belichick is an idiot to be mocked by the genius party of "knowers".

It is what it is....

I have no idea what type of player he will be.

What I do know is that pre season is an indication of NOTHING!!! If he ran for 100 a game against the 1s or -5 vs the 3s. Pre season does not forecast success or failure. Never make a decision based on practice games. After this year you will know. So just watch, I have seen several great RBs play well after less than impressive preseasons. Always remember that preseason indicates nothing, and never draw conclusions based on it.

Maybe Marcus Thigpen was signed to the PS to keep the fire lit under White's azz...

White will not be cut this year, even if he is inactive in every game. He is at least the prospect that Bequette was. He is a 4th round rookie, who is a developmental backup. I know Belichick did ONCE cut a 4th rounder in his rookie year. However, that player was an awful player in an awful draft.

With Vereen in his contract year, White is inexpensive insurance. White could compete with a 2015 draftee to replace Vereen should he move on.

Personally, now that Belichick decide to keep Bolden, I don't see White being active much. Bolden was the backup to Vereen last year, and he is one of our key special teamers.

If White is inactive--a distinct possibility--who returns kicks (should one happen to land in bounds)? Butler? Captain Dan?

I don't know.

Belichick may choose Thigpen. That would be my choice.

He has 0 regular season fumbles.

Our most successful kickoff returner last year ended up being Blount of all people, so who knows.
