J.J. Watt is getting paid

There are a ton of reasons why they went 2-14, and Watt has nothing to do with any of them.
Based on this Watt is clearly at least 4/5 the as valuable as Brady. Since Brady is worth 5 wins a season Watt must be worth 4. So without Watt the Texans would've been the first negative win team in NFL history. They obviously had no choice. :p

Steroids are a disaster for athletes. HGH, used in small doses, is fine. I'd actually favor the legal use of it for these guys, under doctor's supervision, not for muscle mass but for recovery. The only problem is that there is shortage of the stuff so their use makes it more difficult for people with more serious medical needs to get it.

For those who think the steroid testing in the NFL would catch users....

The BALCO scandal started with a small lab that developed a steroid variation that escaped testing under the available testing. Here's the problem: you can't develop a test for something until you know that "something" exists and have sample of it. The BALCO think eventually blew up because a "rat" sent the testing officials a used syringe and they identified the designer steroid and eventually a test for it.

The problem is that the testing can't keep pace with the development of designer drugs.

Roids. HGH. Whatever. The dude is juiced up. No question. The idea that NFL players are clean is a charming fairytale.

And you're basing this on what, exactly? You realize there is a difference between HGH and steroids, correct?

Never said that. What I'm wondering is what the NFL's failure to test for HGH has to do with a definitive statement that Watt takes 'roids.

So you are nitpicking the fact that the original comment I replied to had "roids" instead of PED?

Not nitpicking at all. There is a difference between Steroids (most commonly used to gain an unfair edge athletically) and HGH (most commonly used to help the healing process). So yeah, that's not a nitpick on my part. Perhaps next time you should read the post I quote in it's entirety. The poster I quoted stated Watt uses 'roids as if it's a well known fact. I still haven't seen any evidence to support that, outside of theory and "I think" type of statements.

Yes. I am aware that they are not the same. They are, however, two classes of substances used with the same goal: to get bigger, faster, stronger than would be naturally possible. I have no idea what specific undetectable regimen Watt and the rest of the NFL are using at this moment in time.

With the Players Association dragging their feet on HGH testing, I assume the use of HGH is probably near 100% league-wide.

I think that Watt (and most similarly large muscular NFL players) are also using some undetectable program of steroids and/or steroid-like substances.

For sure wether you account for position importance or not winning should be a part of the equation. Watt has been a part of some pretty good Texans teams that obviously faltered in the playoffs and I am not going to hold one 2-14 season against him but if he were to play most of his career on losing teams and never get a SB that would certainly effect my opinion of him.

In the end you cant ignore postional importance so QBs will almost always be the best players in the league but a guy like Watt comes as close to getting into the Brady/Manning realm than any other non-QB in the league and really the only other player I can think of doing this in recent memory was the Revis of 3-4 years ago.

I would add AP to that list...

When the term "roids" was used in the post I responded to, I assumed it was a general term referring to PEDs since the NFL don't even disclose the type of drug a player is suspended for when they are caught.

It would be possible to use HGH to help achieve this, and thus avoid steroids and/or steroid-like substances altogether.

He is a great player, but I don't like him. His finger wagging is annoying as hell. Want someone to grab that finger and break it next time he does it against the Pats.

Between that and the letterman jackets, oh and the sucking, it's hard to take Houston seriously.

December 10, 2012: Pats 42- Texans 14

January 13, 2013: Pats 41- Texans 28

He can go on with his finger waving. We can go on giving his team the smackdown.

2nd quarter with 6:25 on the clock. That must of been right before our offense put a humiliating hurt on them which made them the joke of the league.

They still haven't recovered from that beat down

Who cares if he does it? It adds entertainment value to the game. If you don't like it, then you give that team a beat down like the Pats have done the last couple of times they faced off.

Shame he didn't know that the Pats were going to take care of making him look foolish and he didn't have to do his sassy teenager impersonation.
