Wes Welker suspended 4 games

I wonder if Tony gonzelez is going to revise his 16-0 prediction

The Broncos got a tough schedule over their first four games:

Colts
KC
@ Seattle
bye
Cards

Three home games, but all four teams they face had 10 or more wins last year.

Having said that, I expect three of those four teams to be somewhere between "okay" and "bad" this year. Not an easy schedule, but not that bad. Just makes it even more overwhelmingly likely that they'll lose the SB rematch that they were probably losing anyway.

Once again I feel somewhat silly feeling sorry for a young multi-multi-millionaire married to a gorgeous brunette, but I do feel sorry for the guy. I hope we're not witnessing a slow motion train wreck in process. I really hope he retires now but in any case missing four games is not a bad thing for him personally health wise given his recent nth concussion.
Best wishes, Wes.

The most perfectly timed suspension in NFL history.
Perfectly stated. The Commissioner is acting as Welker's friend here. It's too bad the "friends" that he plays with won't get in his face and demand that he retire.

NFL fans will probably blame the Pats somehow, since everyone calls us the Cheatriots, and Welker is an ex-Patriot....
Fans? I'm surprised the headline writers at NFL.com don't describe him him as "Ex-Patriots receiver ..."

I wonder if it is because he has been having focusing issues. I posted a couple weeks ago that his drop rate skyrocketed the last two years. He had an 2.9% drop rate in 2011, a 5.7% drop rate in 2012, and 9.0 drop rate last year. Other than his first year back from his ACL tear, Welker never had a drop rate higher than 3.8% with the Pats prior to his last year with them.

Also, everyone who talks to him say his speech is slower today than a few years ago (Greg Bedard said it today on 98.5).

I always really likes WW, I really hope you are wrong (I just hate thinking about the alternative).

Your post was very eye opening.

I hope he retires soon for reasons that have nothing to do with our future games with the Bronco's.

Aren't those others (MDMA, etc) illegal in the NFL too ? Sorry I'm a drug virgin, I no nothing of these things but I'm not sure the "just taking drugs in his free time" makes sense to me.

No. The Ecstasy (MDMA) or purer form nicknamed "Molly" does not initiate a positive test by itself, since it is difficult to test for. Think LSD.

The CB from the Cowboys, Orlando Scandrick--did the same exact thing by tripping/"rolling" on Ecstasy, which triggered a positive test for amphetamines.

Mdma at the derby takes balls

Mdma at the derby takes balls

If you're like me, you saw him at the derby this year and were like "W....T....F?"

Wandering around aimlessly being yelled at by the security guards, walking around with fistfuls of stacks of cash and handing out money like he's a drug kingpin? He looked like the biggest douche in the entire world.

Mike Klis of the denver post says it was adderall.

You know, IMO this should actually help him. I was in favor of someone in Denver pretending the had balls and telling him to sit the F down. For once I actually like something Goodell did. Funny I think he did the right thing entirely by accident.

If it isn't already, by the him he hits his late 40s, his body and mind (if they aren't already) is going to start to fail him and his golden years will be very hard. He will need every penny hes earned to cover the medical costs that he will incur.

The problem is that there are 1000s of the same stories. It's a helluva sacrifice. Guys like Robert Steve Gregory, Tiki Barber and Robert Smith you can't blame for getting out while they can still walk and think straight.

It's ok to feel sorry for him. I sure do.

So stupid of Welker! I can never figure why anyone would swallow anything made in a basement by some drug dealer. The ingredients usually contain rat poison, whatever is handy to cut it with, the ash from his blunt, and that's the good stuff!

Obviously Welker didn't just suddenly decide to try MDMA as the first drug he has ever tried. He obviously is a drug user and is now subject to increased testing. Looking forward to his year long suspension. the only thing that really worries me is that Brady was with him when he did it!

I'm sure BB might have a talk to Brady about that. I'm also sure that Brady is going to have to answer a boatload of questions about it.

This Kentucky Derby thing is strange IMO.

Pure MDMA (molly) basically releases your body's serotonin all at once, which cause the effects. Therefore MDMA is hard to test for because that chemical occurs naturally in the body. As for amphetamines, a test after taking that will be clean in 2 days. (give or take)

So, wasn't the Derby in the beginning of May? Did they have these dirty test results for months or did he just test positive? If he was just tested the Derby thing is BS.

Now we know Wes is the real WW, it's a lot easier to understand how negotiations went south with BB last year.

Bill: "So that's our final offer. I think you'll find it's fair given your age and skillset. Given your concussion history, you're in danger of future injury and we had to consider that."

WW: "Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? Do you know how much I should make a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. Do you know what would happen if I suddenly decided to stop going into work? A team big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ goes belly up on the season. Tanks! It ceases to exist without me. No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Bill. I am the danger. A guy hits his head and gets PSC and you think that of me?! No. I am the one who knocks!"
