Expert 2014 NFL Predictions (as if they mean anything)

I think it'll be NE vs SEA

Atlanta and San Diego are two teams flying under the radar in my opinion. Atlanta is healthy again minus Sean Weatherspoon. San Diego was coming on strong at the end of last year. Gates is finally healthy, Floyd will be back, Keenan Allen looked great, more options at RB. SD's defense is young but got experience for some key players (Butler, Teo, Reyes, Liuget, Ingram). Offensive line is as good as it has been in about 8 years.

Basically, I can't wait for the season to start.

I agree with your SD pick.

I think Atlanta has some nice pieces, but Matty Ice holds them back.

I can see why Green Bay is getting hyped, though. They have an elite player at QB (we all know how far this alone can take you), a borderline elite player at WR, and a guy coming off of a 1,000+ yard rushing season as a rookie. Further, they added Peppers to play across from Matthews on defense. I'm not ridiculously high on the Packers. As a matter of fact, I think that conference is going to come down to Seattle, SF, and New Orleans, but I can at least see why they are getting some of the hype they're getting. The Steelers, on the other hand, completely baffle me.
The NFC is a two horse race between Seattle and New Orleans in my mind. I also happen to believe that the AFC is in a similar state where it should be Denver and New England. For mine, the Colts D is still atrocious and are being over-hyped.

Now, all that said, there's a collection of 3-4 teams in both conferences that could surprise.

Haters gonna hate, Pete.
As good as Rodgers is, the guy has only had 2 very good seasons. In my mind, he's not in the league of Brady, Brees and Manning until he shows he's not a yoyo.

Regardless of what happens, Its great that our team is in SB conversation almost every year for a while now. Wont be there forever.
Take a moment and enjoy that fact before the ****fest starts in our game threads about how BB should retire and brady should be replaced stuff starts after the 1st 3 and out and 1st first down :)

I personally think that New Orleans may be overrated. I think the Falcons could rebound and take the South from them.

With BJ Raji on IR I really don't see how the Packers make it. Similarly with the defensive roster struggles in San Fran, they don't convince.

And the Steelers, lol, I think they will have a hard time making it to second place in their own division.

Interesting there is not more love for Denver...

Also interesting that so many ppl expect us to lose another Super Bowl...I would put our chances of losing 3 Superbowls in a row as slim to none

If we make it to Super Bowl, there isn't a team that will be able to beat us this time

It seems to be the inertia of the "NFC vs AFC" debate from last year.

Interesting to see where "experts" think this roster is so currently lacking.

Picking Pittsburgh as a 12 win team capable of reaching the Super Bowl is questionable at best. I think they're more like a 6-7 win team. That roster is razor thin in too many spots and their offense is going to be hampered by their perpetually mediocre OL.

I agree completely, in my mind both divisions have the teams you mentioned noticeably above everyone else.

In the NFC, other possible contenders are the Packers (elite QB) and San Fran (tho I think they're going to have a rough go this year). Potential surprises to have a good season IMO are Atlanta, Arizona, and Minnesota.

In the AFC, I really don't think there's anyone as close. Baltimore and Pittsburgh just out of past respect? I think Houston will be better but not near enough, the Colts aren't a complete team, and I don't see either the Bengals or Chargers getting through to the next level this year. I expect Kansas to fall flat on its face.

Woah. Gotta disagree with you on this one. Rodgers has had some nice receivers, but he played behind a brutal OL for most of his tenure. His mobility was a must, and he's the best I've seen in 20 years at throwing on the run. GB's running game has sucked as well.

The only possible negative on Aaron's slate is the rumblings that he is too full of himself. On the field, he is outstanding.

Once again I'm forced to re-consider my support for legalizing drugs.
No way does "Matty Ice" (sic) and the soft ATL team beat out NO assuming Brees is on the field. NO offense is awesome. ATL not so much despite their world class WR.

With the loss of Sproles and Colston's age, I am not sure the Saints' offense will be awesome this year. They should be a top offense, but they could take a step back.

And don't forget the Falcons went 13-3 in 2012 and were decimated by injuries last year.

I for one am not willing to concede future mediocrity. :)

I largely agree with you. Their DL is a mess and their Secondary has never been that great anyway. But they are still probably a 10 win team.

Eh. I think SF is headed for an implosion this year.
