BB going up to grab Landon Collins if he declares?

It's early, but I'm all for trading up for an impact player next year. Assuming Dobson and/or KT pan out, we're pretty young and talented across the board. We already have a developmental QB too.

The draft looks like it could be best used to either get a stud OL or finally a legit S2. Heck, we even could go BPA with someone like Gurley.

@JasonLaCanfora: From what I'm hearing sounds like pick Pats receive from Texans for Mallett maxes out at a 6 based on performance. Could be less

Welp, a 7th FTW!
The plot thickens. The New England Patriots will throw in a free one way bus ticket for Jake "the mistake" Bequette.

Any criticism of Belichick should not come from anything that happened today. The criticism should be the decision to spend a 3rd round pick on the guy they did.

Please don't get me wrong. I am not saying Belichick is a bad drafter. Like every single GM in the league, he has plenty of hits and misses. Mallett was one of the misses.
No his contact is up.in a few months. Mallett ended up being an insurance policy we didn't need. That's a good thing.

This was a bad bad deal for the patriots. They may as well have let him become a fa after making him a backup all that time. This was a bad trade for the patriots because bill wasted a draft pick in a loaded draft on mallett in hopes mallet could be traded for more. That pick could have been used as part of a trade up in that draft for watt or Quinn or Julio Jones or aj green.Or been used on Justin Houston or jurell Casey. Mallet still could be a good qb with an established #1 WR and a center and RG where he doesn't have to throw right after the snap

ahhhh yes, I knew it would not take long for someone to say we could have JJ Watt instead of Mallet.

Mallet was not a great pic granted he was what he was supposed to be, not needed, and this trade today was fine.

For those uber-homer fanboys who expected more for a never was, BB swapped a late 3rd for a mid 6th getting 3 years of backup QB.

Besides you-know-who the Pats have the following on their team from 6th & 7th rounds...Edelperson, Ebner, Dennard, Buchannan, and Zach Moore. Tell me again that a 6th round pick is garbage.
Thankfully we never required his services.

Dont be silly, of course Belichick knows who Florio is.

Florio is one of them geniuses that are online -aka "them Internet geniuses".

Don't lump that idiot in with us!

Ah crap come on now Mallett wasn't going to do squat for the Pats. He looked like crap and I wouldn't let him take one snap in the regular season. Fact of the matter is if Brady goes down regardless who is behind him it is over. So it doesn't matter. Don't bring up Cassell because in the end they didn't make the playoffs. Getting anything for Mallett and opening a roster spot for someone that might or probably will contribute is priceless. Good deal to get the guy gone.

For those who said a high comp pick for losing Talib...doesn't signing Revis put a damper on how high that pick is ?

Ian Rappaport is reporting that the compenswtion is a 2016conditional 7th round pick

You're 20/20 hindsight is truly amazing.

Have we actually confirmed that we didn't give the Texans the pick in order to take Mallet from us? :D

I was fine with it being a 6th and hoping maybe it could upgrade to a 5th. But it being a max of a 6 is disappointing. I'd have kept him instead of that.

i dont like it...

obviously we couldnt get anything more, b/c if we could, BB would have done so...but still, Pancho better not be needed this year

and I do have a feeling Ryan wont be garbage in Houston, i think it will be similar to cassel, sucks in preseason until he is the main guy, then gets the reps, live game action, and improves substantially

that fact that the staff saw Pancho as good enough for the #2 QB job though i think says a heck of a lot...

Revis was released so he doesn't count.

No. Revis was released therefor does not count in the comp tabulation (from what AdamJT13 has explained before).
