BB has been playing chicken with the Texans over Mallett all summer. First by drafting Garoppolo when it was believed the Texans would take him with their next pick (not saying that's the only reason BB took Garoppolo) and then by not cutting Mallett when the Texans had first dibs on the waiver wire.

That's the way - play them off against each other, drive the price up. "Mallett's too valuable to us to trade from just a (fill in the blank)". If there really were multiple suitors with any interest, BB must have been in heaven.
