What Player Cut By Other Teams Would You Add To The Pats 53?

4 other options I'd look into:

  1. Colt Lyerla got an injury settlement. I'd look at him, figuring him to miss half the year.
  2. I'd bring in Mikel Leshoure for a look.
  3. I'd call Champ Bailey up and ask him if he'd be interested in moving to safety.
  4. Bring in Patterson for a look. If he's a fit, sign him and move Ryan to safety.

Sign Major Wright S, cut Chung

No, please no. Major Wright is a terrible player. He was cut by his old coach Lovie and the Bucs, who were the only team in the league that seemed to show any interest in him. He cannot cover anyone at all ever, is a spotty tackler and I don't think he is a big contributor on special teams.

This is not a Chung endorsement; this is instead a notdorsement for Major Wrong.

Mikel Leshoure has had some pretty bad seasons due to injury, but I think if healthy is a damn good back

Daryl Richardson from the Jets. Unlike Hill he's actually a damn good player and the Jets are loaded at rb. It's not clear to me that Bolden is better than he is, even knowing the system.

As someone who watched the Rams a lot, Darryl Richardson really, really sucks. The fact that he couldn't make the Jets, who are only "loaded" at RB if "loaded" is being used in the context of "I can't flush my toilet anymore because I loaded it up with all this **** I ate at Hardee's" should say something.

Aside from Lache Seastrunk, who has speed to burn, I don't think the Patriots should even sniff any of these running backs. The guys cut today are all total crap (including Mikel Leshoure, he sucks too). And even Seastrunk would duplicate a Roy Finch, albeit with more size.

I can live without an undersized, unathletic DE with no special team’s value personally.

This is dumb, especially if you ever watched Sam play in college. If he had been on any other team, he would have made it. The Rams are just too loaded at DE and Westbrooks actually outplayed him. But Sam still had a very good camp and preseason, and would have been on the 53 of many other teams. I'd be shocked if he's not on a roster by the first game of the season. I don't think the Patriots are a great fit, though, because Sam's not better than Buchanan with a year in the system.

I'll take your word. I didn't know much about his game rather than he was a name at the safety position.

The idea of moving Bailey to safety is interesting. Woodson just had a top 10 safety season last year at 37 years old when he switched from CB to S.

Anyway to get us 1 year of quality safety play across McCourty.

Woodson switched to safety a few years ago. Even in Green Bay's Super Bowl year he sort of played a "rover" spot rather than a traditional corner or safety. I think Bailey moving to safety would be interesting, but I also think it might be too late for such a thing.

Adam Snyder would be another one I'd bring in for a look.

Wouldn't add ppl but lets make a nice PS instead:

  • Brandon Coleman WR
  • Justin Jones TE
  • Nikita Whitlock FB or NT
  • Lache Seastrunk RB
  • Jeff Adams OT
  • Matt Paradis C/G
  • Jerel Worthy DT
  • Chase Thomas OLB
  • Shayne Skov ILB
  • Leon McFadden CB

Westbrooks has fairly impressive this preseason. Sam's biggest issue is his athleticism and the fact that he doesn't hold up in run D. If you're going to be a one trick pony, you need to be an awesome pass rusher like Aldon Smith or Clay Matthews.

The thing you overlook is that Buchanan plays a significant role on special teams. Sam is a non factor on special teams. We are not going to sign a rookie depth player who cannot contribute on special teams. There are much better options if you are looking for a player to just rush the QB.

I will pass on Justin Jones and add Rob Blanchflower instead, other than that nice list.

There's some nice upside to that list. Find a way to add Lawrence Virgil and I'd be fully on board.

Like to bring back one of my all time fave's, Ben Jarvis Green Ellis... that would push Ridley to take care of the ball.

Would it though? BJGE has 5 fumles the last 2 seasons and had a whooping 3,4Y per run on average last year. I'm not so sure he would even pass Bolden on the depth chart. BJGE isn't getting any younger. I certainly don't see BJGE push Ridley for anything.

My preference, only a preference really like the him.. Ridley has had 8 fumbles in the same period. Something about UDFA's who work hard...

BJGE had 0 fumbles when he was here..

Not doing well on the Bengals would not be a reason for me to pass on a player.

Especially when said player was decent, and perfect with ball protection, before going to Cincinnati. BJGE had 510 carries for 2064 yds, for a 4.0 ypc with us. Lots of players do better away from the Bungles, and some who did well there do much worse after leaving.

First I'd make sure it was not Cincinnati's dumpster fire of a situation and not BJGE skills falling off a cliff that caused his downfall.

I was never happier than when we cut loose The Hyphenating Slug. :D

If I'd had my Druthers ~ as some here may recall ~ I would've tried to Tag & Trade'm after that 14 TouchDown Season...Bet we could've cadged a Pick or two.
