I heard all the hype about White during training camp & I got excited watching his youtube clips from his Wisconsin days.

Then the preseason started & White looked like a guy who couldn't break through a wet paper bag.

I heard talk that he needed time to learn the Patriots offense because our blocking scheme is nothing like what they ran at Wisconsin.

Finch & Gray both looked better than White in the preseason & hopefully Belichick did not just hold onto a guy because he is a 4th round pick. I still question how Ron "the disgrace" Brace ever made this team because he wasn't tough enough to watch the door at Chuck"E' Cheese. If he wasn't a 2nd round pick, he probably never would have made the team.

Please someone tell me something positive about White.

The mediots liked him a lot

I pretty much agree. Everyone loved him when we took him. So far, I have no idea why. He goes down immediately at first contact. Hope he is a good receiver and pass protector.

He's a Vereen insurance in case of injury. White is the type of player the offense sorely lacked last season when Vereen got hurt.

He has value to the team, even if being an inside-the-tackles runner isn't it.

Give him at least a season or two. I seem to recall people complaining Bill wasted a 2nd round pick on Vereen when he didn't flash in the pre-season his rookie year and then was basically redshirted for the year.

Now there are some who think Vereen, if he stays healthy can have a top-10 all time season receiving by a RB.

He's a poor man's Vereen. Or maybe a homeless man's Vereen.

Besides, in Wisconsin they ran a lot of "I' formation and he ran behind a fullback. He's still getting used to running the zone running schemes were doing here.

He can block pretty well in the backfield, and he's a receiving threat. So: It's good that we have someone like that on the roster who can back up Shane Vereen.

Maybe your right about the blocking ability. I have not seen enough of him to label him Kevin Faulk 2.0

If he is nothing more than a 3rd down back, we could pick up
Lache Seastrunk today and we would 't have to drink the Kool aid to make him look good.

I do appreciate the feedback.

He showed that he can't run between the tackles behind an o-line of scrubs. No-one else on display on Friday could do that either. On the other hand, he has some other skills.

BB thought enough of him to keep him on the 53...for now.

He saved money on his car insurance by switching to Geico.

He was a good college player.

Reports kept saying things like "impressed teammates in practices but it did not show in preseason games" or somesuch.

I think it's cheap to find out what we've got. And yes, at present, he's not in prison, on parole, or awaiting trial. Come on, that's got to count for something.

...

Whoa there Sparky. He was used on many between the tackles runs just to see if he can. He can't.

I do not know what you were told. That is a reflection of the media, not you.

He is a "Vareen" not a "Ridley." Heck, he scored on one Vareen-like wheel route. Yes, he is not a battering ram. Neither is Vareen and I doubt you'd ask for me to tell you something good about Vareen.

Edit: *Vereen :)

If you can't spell the Vereen name properly, there is a good chance you will not be my top choice for advice.
