The 2014 Edition : Jets continue to suck (what else is new)

There's so much in that one little column - keeping in mind that it is a report, not an op-ed piece - that I had to read it twice.

- With just 10 days to go before the Jets’ season opener, the team is dealing with a situation that just keeps getting messier...

- The suspended cornerback blasted the team’s decision-makers...

- Patterson basically called general manager John Idzik and coach Rex Ryan liars...

- “As it relates to my whereabouts and me missing for 48 hours without being seen or heard from me or my representative is completely false,” Patterson said...

- Several of Patterson’s teammates said privately he would not be welcomed back in the locker room, especially after smearing Ryan...

- It would be surprising if the Jets did not cut Patterson now. Even though they are woefully thin at cornerback, how can they tolerate being called liars by one of their players? It also seems impossible Patterson could ever win back the trust of his teammates and coaches...

But on the other hand:

- The Jets may be reluctant to ditch Patterson because they gave him a $1 million signing bonus that may be hard for them to recoup...

- The Patterson mess just adds to the team’s issues at cornerback and makes Idzik’s decision to pass on big-ticket corners in free agency look even worse. The team signed Patterson after letting Antonio Cromartie go, deciding against bringing Darrelle Revis back and failing to land Vontae Davis or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie...

- The Jets had Patterson and Dee Milliner penciled in as their starters for the season. Milliner suffered a high left ankle sprain in training camp...

- After the injuries to Milliner and McDougle, the Jets moved safety Antonio Allen to cornerback, but he sustained a concussion...

Bottom line:

- At the moment, Kyle Wilson, Darrin Walls, Ellis Lankster and LeQuan Lewis are the team’s top healthy and available cornerbacks...

If thou dost sow chaos, thou dost reap chaos... glad to see it happening to this team.

Isn't that this guy?

So apparently there are some Jets fans with a sense of humor. Regarding last night's mauling at the hand of the Iggles:
The Jets couldn't stop the Eagles' ground game, getting gashed for more than 270 rushing yards. Fortunately, there was a silver lining for the Jets' defense as they showed great balance, also getting destroyed by the Eagles' passing game, to the tune of almost 300 yards passing and a couple of TDs.
Jets vs. Eagles Final Score: Eagles 37, Jets 7 — Gang Green Nation

Sorry, Tyrion Lannister is way too cool to be a Jets fan, or anyone's mascot for that matter.

/nerd off
Perhaps I confused him with this guy:

Jets waive WR Stephen Hill - Newsday

The move, confirmed by the team, came as no surprise, considering the receiver's disappointing career with the team. He ended each of his first two seasons on injured reserve and caught just 45 passes for 594 yards and four touchdowns in 23 games.

Hill played his final preseason game in a Jet uniform on Friday night, catching one pass for 13 yards and dropping another in a blowout loss to the Eagles. After the game, the receiver seemed surprised by all of the questions about his status on the team and denied he was worried about making the final cut.

Asked on Friday about his erratic preseason, Hill said: "It's basically opportunities. Gotta get a lot more opportunities and then take advantage of the opportunities that were given to me. It's just one of those up-and-down preseasons . . . It was all right."

The Jets shoulder some of the blame for Hill's lack of production, however. They moved up to take the Georgia Tech product 43rd overall in 2012, knowing that Hill was raw and would be a project. The organization banked on his upside - his athleticism and speed - but in the end, he wound up being a major disappointment.

Jets cut Dimitri Patterson.....

The Jets have released suspended CB Dimitri Patterson, according to @ProFootballTalk. #nyj

Word is that the Jets are going to have another lunch meeting with Fireman Ed to see if he will come back and be starting CB for the Jets.

Fielding a team that can't pass or defend the pass in a passing league that just reemphasized rules to help passing might just be crazy enough to work!

Well I guess that's one way to cut down on pass interference penalties. Don't get anywhere close to opposing WRs. Ever.

and Jets Insider posters will cite their DBs as being the most penalty efficient in the NFL!

Remember earlier in the year...it was Rob, I think, or Patfanken, that posted maybe we should layoff the Jets ridicule after the past decade of total buffonery and idiocy demonstrated on a weekly basis by this green turd franchise. I remember I vociferously disagreed, which in no way was meant to diminish my fellow Pats fans posts but to REMIND THEM that NO!...we NEVER let our bootheel up from the back of their necks. NEVER.

and now you all know why...this is beyond incredible. Name the franchise that is THIS ridiculous on a day in, day out basis....I have an old .jpg that we haven't seen in a year maybe but it's time someone posted it again...
