Patriots Cuts: Boyce, Bequette, Worthy, Beauharnais...

One name to watch: Washington cut RB Lache Seastrunk, their 6th round pick from Baylor. He's got good hands and speed to burn out of the backfield. Most importantly, he gashed the hell out of the Patriots in the first preseason game.
It took me 4 tries on my iPhone but I was able to hit the green checkmark to agree. I like Seastrunk he is very fast.

The NFLPA specifically negotiated with the league for the exception in Smith's case.

Most media folks I saw yesterday think it should be like that across the board (i.e. players who screw up in the offseason need structure and support, not a vacation). I agree.

Ah, that makes sense. I agree.

With 10 OL, historically overweight roster-wise, you'd think the shoe would drop on either him or Devey. And Devey has versatility and got more playing time.

I thought Devey did pretty well here. I would be mildly surprised of he got the axe.

@MarkDanielsPJ: We have about 2:15 until the deadline, so things could change, but at this moment I can confirm Chris Barker is still a member of the Pats

And I'm fairly sure the Pats made a number of moves in the days following the deadline last year, so if I were Barker I wouldn't be signing a mortgage application.

The position I am most worried about right now after these cuts is LB

It does seem thin but it's also a very interesting unit. Hightower can play OLB and MLB. So can Collins sort of. Mayo is pretty much ILB Keeping Fleming makes sense. Jones, Nink can play OLB as well. Plus they will be in nickel or dime 75% of the time anyway....

Is Tavon still on the roster?

He plays on nearly all the ST units, has had a good camp, and the Pats have 10 DBs, and they usually carry 10 to 11 (obviously Browner doesn't count right now). Would be surprised if they cut him but you never know what's on the waiver wire.

Ironically, Boyce was probably the most popular pick of that draft on this board.

I'll admit I liked the Boyce pick and thought he might develop into something; however, this pre-season he looked lackadaiscial in the games and somewhat lost out there. Too bad.

Just as an historical note - OL Chris Barker, Josh Kline, and Braxton Cave made the Labor Day roster last year.

no surprises so far.

IMO, the only way Tyms makes the roster after week 4 is if someone ahead of him on the depth chart gets hurt.

Which leaves one player who has to keep the bench warm for Browner. Have we historically carried 5 safeties? I don't seem to recall so.

I like Seastrunk a lot--thought he ran hard against the Pats in the preseason.

Chung will go as Ebner is better on ST IMO.
