Patriots Cuts: Boyce, Bequette, Worthy, Beauharnais...

Josh Boyce sigh.....Who is our Wide Receiver scout and how come we miss on so many WR prospects taken early? Dobson should pan out, but even he is still a question mark. It sucks, because quite a few game changing WRs like Corderelle Patterson, Keenan Allen, Dez Bryant, Alshon Jefferies were passed up by the Patriots.

Jake Bequette might have been the most unimpressive 3rd round pick in Patriots history. Don't know what we saw in him.

Glad to see Malcom Butler is still around. Same with Tyms.

Boyce was cut because another second year receiver beat him out. Doesn't strike me as quite the scathing indictment of the Pats' WR scouting that you're suggesting it should be.

Bolden might be the happiest camper right about now.

Round 4 is "taken early" now? For perspective on Boyce, the next receiver taken after him, Chris Harper, was waived after his first training camp.

Truth be told, I thought he was a potential sleeper when we picked him. Dude had some nastiness to him in college. There's a highlight reel of him on YT where he nearly decapitates a few QBs.

How was he going to make the team?

Amendola, Edelman, LaFell, Thompkins, Dobson and now White...and with Tyms in the wings. Pur enumbers game - he may well make the PS, though.

Dude, you need to understand binky love. It doesn't have to make sense ;)

Finch is so poor at blocking he was always going to get cut. You wouldn't have needed to be Buddy Ryan to work out if he was on the field we would be running the play!

How many more to go?

Edit: Actaully i did my math wrong. we were at 75 and need to get to 53. That is 22 players off the roster. So with 12 cut (now 13 with L.T. Tuipulotu cut) and 2 suspended that is 15 off the roster. We need 7 more cuts currently

Sorry about that.

Let's be honest here, no you wouldn't. You wouldn't pass up 1400 yards 13 Td and a Lombardi Trophy.

You're assuming, of course, that Brady would not have given up on him entirely the way he did with Jackson. I personally see no reason to believe that would have happened.

In the same draft they missed on Boyce, they got Dobson and brought in Thompkins. I'd call that pretty successful at this point. Would have like Allen...no love here for Patterson in teh New England system.

and I still think Boyce will be an NFL receiver - maybe a good one - but the bottom end of the Pats receiving core right now has no room for him. It came down to him or Thompkins, imo, and with a full year and two training camps, it wasn't really close.

Still, to have Thompkins as the BOTTOM of your WRs on a 53 is pretty good.

Finch can be coached up, to block better the Vision can not be taught that is God given. He had great awareness with the ball in his hands.

Ok, I'll rephrase. "early to mid round". We have a taken quite a few Wide Receivers in rounds 2-4 Taylor Price, Brandon Tate, Josh Boyce, Chad Jackson, Bethel Johnson, Aaron Dobson. Dobson appears to be the only one who is going to make a splash.
