Ok, the final exhibition game of the season is finished, and we're about a week away from real football. Unfortunately, for some hard working young men in search of a well paying career, the end of NFL exhibitions means the end of tenure with teams and, for many, the end of their NFL journey. Between now, and the first game of the season, teams will need to get their rosters down to 53 (or lower), and that includes the Patriots. So....

Who's staying, and who's going?

I think Moore stays, especially if the injury to Buchanan is anything severe. Bequette is still a mystery--in every sense of the word.

I'm still not convinced that guys like Butler/Tyms aren't preseason heroes, although from what I've seen, I'd like to see both kept in some form (including PS). I don't think both will make the roster though, although I suppose the decision for Tyms doesn't have to be made anytime soon.

Disappointed in Harmon, although of course he still makes it. I think BOTH of Wilson/Chung do as well.

I don't think either one of Finch/Gray make it to the 53, but one goes to the PS.

Wilson/Chung/Harmon could well make the cut but come week 4 I think one is going.

I think Ebner is a lock due to STs and he looks like he would not be totally lost as a backup SS.

I think Butler is a lock too and I doubt you carry 11 DBs on the roster. I think one of those 3 safeties is gone and i'd bet on Wilson being the odd man out.

Davis I think makes it as ST'er and LB debpth i think.

I'd be surprised if Worthy made the team to be truthful.

The (seemingly) obvious cuts are:

DT - L.T. Tuipulotu
DT - Eathyn Manumaleuna
CB - Dax Swanson
S -- Shamiel Gary
RB - Roy Finch
RB - Jonas Gray
WR - Jeremy Gallon

That leaves fifteen other players that need to go.

Possibly on the bubble, to varying degrees:

QB - Ryan Mallett
FB/LB - Taylor McCuller
RB - Brandon Bolden, Stevan Ridley
FB/TE - James Develin
TE - Michael Hoomanawanui, Steve Maneri
WR - Josh Boyce, Jeremy Gallon, Brandon LaFell, (Brian Tyms)
OL - too many to count... Braxston Cave, Ryan Wendell, Dan Connolly, Josh Kline, Chris Barker, Jon Halapio, Chris Martin, Jordan Devey
DE - Michael Buchanan, Jerel Worthy, Zach Moore, Jake Bequette
DT - Sealver Siliga, Chris Jones, Joe Vellano
LB - Darius Fleming, Steve Beauharnais, James Morris, Ja'Gared Davis, Chris White
CB - Dax Swanson ... is Malcolm Butler even on the bubble at this point? (Brandon Browner)
S -- Tavon Wilson, Nate Ebner, Patrick Chung, Kanorris Davis

35 players on the bubble: 15 stay, 20 go.

I keep seeing people project Swanson to the PS. I highly doubt he lasts a day without a team. Am I wrong or will he be wearing another uniform soon?

Swanson doesn't clear waivers, the jets have to keep a guy that went AWOL for a game because their secondary is so terrible...

DE - Michael Buchanan, Jerel Worthy, Zach Moore, Jake Bequette

The (seemingly) obvious cuts are:

DE - Jake Bequette (if there is a god)
DT - L.T. Tuipulotu
DT - Eathyn Manumaleuna
CB - Dax Swanson (practice squad candidate)
SS - Shamiel Gary
SS - Kanorris Davis (practice squad candidate)
OC - Braxston Cave
OG - Chris Barker
OG - Jon Halapio
FB - Taylor McCuller
RB - Roy Finch
RB - Jonas Gray (practice squad candidate)
TE - Steve Maneri
WR - Josh Boyce
WR - Jeremy Gallon (practice squad candidate)
WR - Brian Tyms (after week 4)

Position Battles:

DT- Vellano versus Worthy
ILB - Beauharnais versus Morris
OLB - Davis versus White

Taylor McCuller
Steve Maneri
Chris Barker
Braxston Cave
Kanorris Davis
should be on the definitely cut list, IMO

WR - Brian Tyms (after week 4)

Position Battles:

DT- Vellano versus Worthy
ILB - Beauharnais versus Morris
OLB - Davis versus White

I believe that Morris was injured tonight, so that may clear up that battle. I'd have given it to Steve B no matter what, anyways.

Vellano vs. Worthy is intriguing. I think Vellano has a better grasp of things, but Worthy has the higher ceiling, talent-wise.

I'm thinking that Tyms doesn't make it either, but I'm hoping that he's part of the PS.

Why would the Pats cut Tyms when he doesn't count against the 53 until week 5 of the season? The chances of injury to a WR by that time are pretty good and Tyms finishes his suspension and steps in. Or they carry one less TE or RB based on the first 4 weeks of performance.

Tavon Wilson makes cut on ST usage. He's not progressed as many had hoped, but he is often in on all/most ST units.

The (seemingly) obvious cuts are:

DE - Jake Bequette (if there is a god)
DT - L.T. Tuipulotu
DT - Eathyn Manumaleuna
CB - Dax Swanson (practice squad candidate)
SS - Shamiel Gary
SS - Kanorris Davis (practice squad candidate)
OC - Braxston Cave
OG - Chris Barker
OG - Jon Halapio
FB - Taylor McCuller
RB - Roy Finch
RB - Jonas Gray (practice squad candidate)
TE - Steve Maneri
WR - Josh Boyce
WR - Jeremy Gallon (practice squad candidate)
WR - Brian Tyms (after week 4)

Position Battles:

DT- Vellano versus Worthy
ILB - Beauharnais versus Morris
OLB - Davis versus White

Why is Halapio an obvious cut?

I'm gonna ask this question, hoping its not true but.....

Am I the only one that thinks Brandon Browner might be on the bubble?

Supa, I think there's no was Butler doesn't make the team. He was starting games opposite Revis this pre season. I can see Tyms being cut though, but I'd be shocked if Butler is.

i have entertained the question......i think he makes the team, but ends up being a disappointment to many of the fans who thought he was gonna be a great pickup/player

just my opinion

I've been thinking that all preseason. He looks terrible, disinterested, and happy he got his big payday. I think BB notices too, because he's been playing with the 2nd and 3rd stringers all preseason. Not impressed at all. Very disappointed.

Browner makes the initial 53 - especially since he is "stowed away" for a month. Injuries in September would make him a valuable back up plan... but I agree that he probably won't be the pick up many of us had hoped. Let's not forget that he was pushed back in Seattle...

I think Wilson stays, Bequette goes (finally. Moore stays. And plays). Players most have staying who I think we wouldn't miss: White (x2), Hooman, Harmon.
