DUMB Post ......but I will say this. .....Jimmy G is the future and heir apparent right now......and this could very well be TFB last season as starting qb....time will tell....

Come on now, you can't accuse someone else of making a dumb post and then follow it up with some of the dumbest speculation I've ever read.

Brady will have $42M guaranteed left on his contract after this season. Even if they wanted to get rid of him, which would be pretty dumb in its own right. For better or worse, we're stuck with Brady. Sucks to be us.

Tom Brady walked off when he tore his ACL too.

With an extremely pronounced limp. Buchanan looked much better, and wasn't down for nearly as long.

T Keep in mind, if Worthy makes the team, it costs them a pick (7th), right?

I doubt that's a dealbreaker. How little could they want someone that giving up a 7th would tip the balance?

Maybe. He grabbed the knee before he'd even finished falling and before the play was close to over though. I've seen things that looked to be milder than that that ended up to be season ending. Hoping for the best though.

Any remaining guaranteed $ Brady has is in the form of guaranteed salary, which would transfer if he were traded.

Oh, I get that, but still, if it's a coin flip between him and Vellano...

I want them to keep him. Not crazy about how upright he plays, but he's got some sheer power.

Belichick not committing to whether Mallett or Garoppolo is backup "Last year has nothing to do with it" #Patriots

While you may be right, how much of that is basic/vanilla type of reads? In other words, is he really going to be able to produce anything in real NFL action, should it come down to it? That's what I'm not sure about.

We'll know enough in a couple of days.

JAG's not ready. The question, to me, is whether BB will risk the season. He did it with Mallett when he dumped Hoyer.

Overall right now I am pretty happy with how this team looks save for the OL.

Safety is a spot I think we can work around and the LB/DE depths seems serviceable.
I like the skill position players and depth overall as well.

As far as OL.. After watching this game I don't see how anyway you have Kline/Devey/Halapio as a starting G.

Stork looked great and i think (though could be wrong) Flemming held up pretty good at his time at OT this game.

Right now I'd say Solder-Cannon-Wendell-Connolly-Vollmer with Stork and Fleming as your best backups.

I think we might keep Mallett around just one more year so Garoppolo has a full year of practice before he has a chance of going into a game. Don't get me wrong Garoppolo is good but he needs more practice before I would trust him as a backup.

One cut that I find tough to make is Daxton Swanson. He pretty much can't make the team as he is in a number's crunch, but as a 23 year old CB that is good in run support and has decent coverage ability, he is as good as gone if we let him go. I feel like he's a one of the better players in the 48-60 range on the roster. Team's can never have too many CBs, as we know the trash we've thrown out there the last decade at times.

Any chance we could sneak him on the team? Maybe 6 CBs and 4 S, as Arrington/Ryan are being used there.

He won't make this team..but someone will pick him up.

Yep, that's exactly it. While there have been hints of a pattern of keeping 3, we've also seen him gamble like in 2009.

It's up in the air to me.

That is what I'd do--but thankfully for all of us, my decision doesn't count. Kind of like the decisions in my own household...

The scrubs went into a tough venue against a moron head coach who desperately wanted a blowout and held their own.

Tells me their depth is pretty much a whole lot better than LAST season.

That's about it. There was nothing in this game that I will be looking for in game one , either offensively or defensively.

Now please make the cuts so that all this binky adoration and false hope can be sliced off like a plantar's wart and we can sink our teeth into REAL, ACTUAL,BONAFIDE NFL FOOTBALL.

I'm just not sure how Mallett has ever indicated that he'd be able to better or even as well.

I agree with you on some level. I think Mallett's skills have been way overrated by many.

That said, I also think that many here are doing the same thing for a rookie who looked completely lost through the whole summer up until his preseason games. While he may have ended up farther along than Belichick had initially figured, I'm not sure it's enough to take over the 2nd string position.
