Wes Welker suffers concussion in preseason game

Go check it out, browse around a little. Might help to get outside of your own bubble. Pretty cool community, with fans from all 32 teams, and it's generally agreed there that Manning has a tendency to hang his WRs out to dry. Even some of the Broncos fans there admit it.
I thought he wanted something of a "legit " source, so I pulled an article instead. Actually I was browsing PhinHeaven the other day in anticipation of opening day and Dolphins fans were piling on Manning too even though their "rivalry" with the Colts and Manning has been over for over a decade.

Only one of Welker's concussions in Denver were from one of these "kill shot" catches. One was soon after a catch but happened after Welker had already gone to the ground, and one happened after Welker had run around with the ball for about 15 seconds.

So those of you touting the three concussions in a year argument and then crapping on the other guy for pointing to Gronk or Amendola need to take a step back and look at your own argument.

Mods, feel free to ban me.

That was my point exactly. Like I said Brady really needs to stop "ruining" Gronk and Amendola.

And to the guy saying 3 concussions in one year is somehow Manning's fault....do you understand how concussions work? If you have one you're more vulnerable to getting more. Welker has been taking shots in this league a long time, he had concussions before he ever played with Manning. Lord knows how many others didn't get reported before the league put so much emphasis on concussions.

But of course NE fans have an eternal never ending boner for Manning. So of course when a 34-35 year old receiver who has been taking hard shots for a decade, who also has a history of concussions, gets his bell rung it's Manning's fault.

The difference between a receiver getting a concussion and not getting one is pure luck. We've all seen receivers take brutal hits and get right back up.

But because "Satan" Manning is involved you idiots of course act like Welker's concussions are the QB's fault. Some idiot up there said "I doubt many slot receivers or TE would want to play with Manning" lol. Yeah, that's why Welker left NE to play with him. That's why Stokely played with him. That's why Tamme played with him.

I mean, why would a receiver or TE want to play with a guy who makes them look great? A guy who enables them to put up the stats that gets them a fat contract lol? And gives them a shot at a SB ring?

Like said, I get that NE fans hate Manning and you're completely irrational in your hate, but let it go. Move on.

uh...hey moron...we didn't come to YOU...you came here and unleashed your country cornpone ,cow pie Hee Haw 4 F jamboree...we listed all the horrific head traumas incurred by YOUR receivers during Manning's tenure. You play Silent Bob the mongoloid. We understand. You are extremely stupid. Go away. Find your sister and play post office, inbred freak.

Anthony Gonzalez was more injury than man and only once did he suffer a concussion. His career wasn't even remotely ended by concussion or anything to do with Manning. But why let facts get in the way of your witch hunt?

Brandon Stokley claims to have suffered a dozen or more concussions since he was in High School. But again, don't let the facts get in the way of your witch hunt.

No, I'm sure Manning "ruined" Stokley too. Just ask Pats fans.

Yeah, you were "browsing" a rival team's board and they just happened to be piling on Manning, apparently in agreement with your current argument.

Anecdotal evidence is fun, especially on fan forums (I'm sure you have a link too, right? Riiiiight). Gosh I wonder if I went over to Phin Haven or the Jets boards if I could find some Brady bashing?

you may as well...you're not long for here.

It's just a coincidence, apparently.

how many did Collie have in 2009 when he had 60 catches and over 600 yards? How many did he have in the playoffs that year? How many did he have in the first 6 games of 2010?

Just a "coincidence" I guess?

No, it's called "chance" because the difference between a receiver getting a concussion on a hard hit and not getting one is pure luck.

Wow, the ignore function is way easier to use and more thorough than it was on the old board. Excellent.

In this case it's called "stupid" because the difference between multiple receivers suffering repeated concussions and not is the number of times their QB makes a pass causing them to take that chance.

No way, you haven't done anything close to being worth banned for.

We always welcome fans of other teams who can have conversations about the Patriots and the NFL with us, even if many of the people here disagree with your opinion. It's only the blatant trolls who get the boot.

Just wanna jump in here and ask a question. If you're a Colts fan, um... why are you here? Plus, Peyton's not even your quarterback anymore. Why're you wasting your time at a Pats forum? Seems kinda pointless to me.

Manning didn't make many dumb ass throws that year. You seem to be confused, which doesn't surprise me. I'm not inferring that Manning leads his receivers into a big hit on every throw. I'm arguing that he does it more often than most quarterbacks in the league.

I know of one he had in 2010 that was Manning's fault. And it was one of the worst I had seen. Usually you only see a man knocked unconscious with his hands sticking up in the air during MMA fights. Collie gave us that during an NFL game, courtesy of his quarterback.

Just a "coincidence" I guess?

That seems to be the case you're trying to make when we've pointed out WR's that played with Manning that had concussion issues through the years. It's a hilariously bad defense.

No, it's not. It's called being aware of a guy's sorroundings and not having a noodle arm. Brady can rocket a 15-20 yard pass between the numbers to give his guy enough time to hit the deck of the safety is coming in hot. Manning simply can't.

You know why you and your buddy LaidOut signed in here and got so defensive about this? Because, deep down, you know that we're right and you just don't want to accept that kind of criticism about your hero.

The first regular season game thread is just over a week a way — time for me to get up to speed on that.

Anyways, I don't know why I'm bothering. You guys have your theory that you've cooked up on this board (that as I've mentioned is accepted nowhere beyond this small bubble) and you, a clear and unabashed group of Manning hates, will continue to reenforce each other with made up statistics, half-truths and blindness. Far be it from me to put a damper on the party any further.

Give me a call if this theory ever takes hold outside the bubble of New England sports and maybe someone outside of this board might start to take you guys seriously.

If you think this is just made up just on this board than you are deluding yourself:
Former MIA WR OJ McDuffie thinks Manning is partly to blame.
Jim Rome also think's Peyton's partly to blame.

If you think that this is anything new then you are also deluding yourself:
Manning partly to blame for Collie's concussion

The reality is that all football players have a risk of concussions..its a dangerous sport. And all QBs are going to put their receivers in a bad position from time to time...it happens. That being said, Manning has routinely put his receivers going over the middle in bad positions. Its a pattern.

And if you think we are the deluded ones because we are blind homers with an ax to grind, ask yourself why you are here on this board arguing this stupid topic.

Weird that a Colts fan would put so much into defending the Broncos' QB.

Come to think of it, it's also weird that he'd repeatedly characterize the difference between getting a concussion and not getting one "Pure Luck," given the source.

Ya know, I loved the guy, and he had a big part in all the Pats' super bowls, but I'm not going to bat for Vinatieri... nor was I the moment he was signed.

I hope we're fortunate enough that we don't have to follow detractors around the league, defending the true premiere QB of this age -- all present signs point to TFB retiring a Patriot.

I hope those signs are right. It's so sad to see this. I shudder to think I'll one day be in such a state, suddenly having to fight off, say, Seattle fans because TFB plays a few years for the Rams or somesuch. Ugh. How unsightly.

I'll try to find it but when Welker first signed with Denver I said that he made a mistake. Because in those tight holes between safeties and linebackers where Brady would zip it in fast and low, Manning would be throwing him ducks.

Even this past concussion, some people are saying that he got hit because he was trying to get low. Which is true. But if Brady is throwing that ball he has it a half second before and is already below where that hit occurs. Wes is used to getting low in order to keep from getting killed across the middle. When he gets the ball a little late he is late in getting down and bad things happen.

And I was a Welker guy who really wanted him to stay.

They found a way to keep him safe:
