Meet Tim Wright

I believe we will have an emphasis on the passing game this season, I expect Brady around 5000 yards again. Not that I care much but it's going to be nice if he break Peyts numbers from last year.

That would not be bad considering " Tom Brady is no longer an elite QB":rolleyes:o_O

OK...so the latest on Wright is that he's been playing at 235 lbs, not 220, had long since climbed out of Lovie's doghouse after one bad day of practice, and was firmly in the team's plans for the year.

PC: Are you referring here to B6's speculation that he could add 15 lbs, or is there an actual report that he weighs 235? Either way I don't see him pushing around many LBs, to say nothing of DEs. He just just has to be willing to stick his nose in there. Mismatches will come from formations with guys like Gronk, Vereen and White who also present matchup problems for most LBs.

I've read reports from Tampa beat reporters saying that he's been playing at 235. That said, it's clear that Wright is no inline TE. But by all accounts he's willing and active as a blocker, if only marginally effective.

Willing, active, and marginally effective is all you can ask for blocking-wise from a 2nd year TE that's not a converted OT.

Same. I found this tweet from an official Tampa Bay Bucs writer from last October saying that Tim Wright was 235.

Bucs rookie Tim Wright (Rutgers) enjoying transition from WR to TE -- was 218 at pro day, now carrying about 235 pounds at new position.

Off to a great start..let's hope he can help this team a ton. Has some good skills out there.

Only 2 days of practice...looked like he has been here longer then that.

Wright and Dobson looked solid with the #2s in NY last night. I'd love to see a package of Wright, Gronk, LaFell, Dobson and Vereen in the Red Zone against the Dolphins.

He is smaller and slower than Mark Harrison, but appears to have speed consistent with his reported 40 time (4.6), which is similar to Hernandez. Differentiators are that AH was much quicker while TW is longer, which is a big reason (along with soft hands) he made so many plays despite close coverage. Nobody is better than Brady at putting the ball in the right place for big YAC, so as you said, we will see.

AH played faster then what his 40 time, because he was quick and could juke out defenders like a 5'11 190 lbs Julian Edelman does. Wright looks just as fast but not as quick, but he seems like he'll make some of those tough catches in traffic.

I thought Matt Chatham broke it down great during the game. TW looks taller and longer, where AH lower body was much bigger, making him a better blocker.

dude has huge hands......11 1/8 inch.......big even by NBA standards......its only one of many attributes, but still a good thing

AH was a sub-standard blocker regardless. But yes, he had moves on moves.

He was. But he improved leaps and bounds over where he was at with the Gators. I'm sure he would have rather just pulled out at pistol and shot LB's and CB's, though.

I am surprised he didn't actually

Watched Wright a lot last night. Even vs. the Giants' 1s, he was gaining separation a lot. I don't know if he was running the right routes, but he is a match up problem for LBers. Teams will have to put safeties and CBs on him or he is going to be open a lot.

Considering the guy hasn't even unpacked yet and it's only preseason, he looked like he belonged out there. He did well.

I have been saying since the trade, I think he could have a really big year here. The guy had more yards in his rookie season than either Gronk or Hernandez did in their rookie season. Belichick and McDaniels seem to really like the guy and last night showed that they may have some big plans for him.

Still better than Wright though. ..

LOL Sure AH light it up here but how do we know AH is better and why would you proclaim it at this point? TW had a better rookie season than AH and AH had a QB throwing to him that was light years better than what TW had. So, given the sample size and variables how can you say AH was better when right now clearly TW is better?

Impressed by Wright last night vs Giants. Nice debut for a guy who still has trouble finding Foxboro without a GPS.
