I like Dobson and Thompkins on the field at same time. Both have good size at 6'1 and 6'3, speed, athleticism, and route running quickness to create consistent separation. I like Vereen,Edelman,Gronk,Kenbrell, and Dobson to start. Gives Brady his his best combo of size, quickness, athleticism and chemistry to rack up points. With Lafell and Ridley mixed in while they see how Tyms progresses and if he keeps his big plays on the football consistent in practice he of course would get more playing time. For now, those 5 I think are the best pass catchers/skill players

Good news

I really like Dobson. Hoping for a big year from him

I wonder if he's gotten any bigger and by how much. 200 lbs (what I see listed) is rather small for most 6'3 WRs

I also wish that he could have returned sooner and played with TB12 in the pre-season because they had some chemistry problems in his rookie year and Dobson dropped a number of passes. I hope that he steps up and becomes the number one receiver for the patriots for years to come. No more Aaron "Dropson" please! It is time for him to prove to his believers that he is what we thought he would be.

Wish he could've come back last week, but what's done is done, and much better late than never. Had he been healthy this offseason, I would be predicting a breakout season for him, and it's still possible that he might do that. For all the talk that the Pats are a slow team (Barnwell ranked them as one of the slowest in the NFL, although granted the Saints were right there with us), Dobson is the guy that's here to take the top off of defenses. If he's the real deal, we suddenly have an offense that can survive the loss of a guy like Gronk.

Hope he doesnt have any set backs. I dont think Dobson will gain much from playing with backups. You really need him out there with TB12 to gain the reps with knowing where to be and when and where Tom like to make those throws.

He's going to struggle for a few weeks since he missed MOST of training camo and preseason

This is the lineup I want to see tonight:

QB-Jimmy Garapollo
RB-James White
XWR-Aaron Dobson
ZWR-Josh Boyce
TE-Michael Hoomanawanui
TE-Timothy Wright
LT-Marcus Cannon
LG-Jordan Devey
OC-Bryan Stork
RG-Jon Halapio
RT-Cameron Fleming
LOLB-Jake Bequette
LDT-Jerel Worthy
NT-Sealver Siliga
RDE-Zach Moore
ROLB-Michael Buchanan
SILB-Steve Beauharnais
WILB-James Morris
LCB-Logan Ryan
RCB-Malcolm Butler
SAF-Tavon Wilson
SAF-Duron Harmon

Dobson & Tyms for Garoppolo to work with? Throw in LaFell if he gets any reps and that's a lot of tall receiving options!
I want to see Wright get some reps as well.

I think the fans on this board have a lot higher opinion of Brian Tyms than Belichick and his staff does. Tyms has not played any meaningful snaps in the preseason; they have mostly been third string snaps. Last season posters were enamored with Quinton Sims in a similar way and he did not even end up sticking on the practice squad.

Didn't Julio Jones have the same surgery ? he looks great.

That would be dreadful to watch lol

It is going to be an interesting season offensively; I have to wonder who ends up being the odd man out, especially if they move back to a 2 tight end offense with Wright here now. Can Dobson work his way into the mix, and if he can who is pushed out Thompkins? Edelman is obviously going to be the primary target in the receiver group so that leaves and if Dobson becomes the primary X receiver how will Amendola and LaFell fit into the mix, especially with Wright being on the field seeing a lot of reps in the area that a slot receiver would generally lineup.

He's also Julio Jones and was injured in the first few weeks of last season so hes had months more of recovery time.

Question for people following the team pre-Super Bowl wins... or anyone in the know :

How many Patriots have started slow to one day contribute in a major way ? Recently, other than a few exceptions, those that have become contributors have shown flashes early.

Agree. It wouldn't be the most fun football to watch(pre season, duh). But it would certainly be a lot of the players that I to see more of to evaluate. Really want to see more of Helapio/Flemming/Stork.

I'm worried with the foot, the game speed and chemistry with Brady he will pick up very fast because at a certain point last season they clicked.

But a real game for a guy who got back to practice 2 weeks ago, I don't know, I would give him a little more time. He could sit for the first 2 games and we would be ok.

What do you mean? Patriot players or league in general? Adam Vinatieri, Troy Brown, Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Julian Edelman, Matt Slater.

All pop instantly to mind.

I would add Rob Ninkovich and possibly James Develin (depending how his 2014 season goes) to that list as well.

Potentially Jamie Collins depending on how his career plays out from here. He was an invisible man the first 12 (estimating) weeks last season. I was getting worried about him.
