OT: [Exaggerated] here first, Belichick hates soccer. [Mod edit: He Never said That]

He would not have approved of the World Cup thread here, I imagine.

Finally BB and I have something in common! I'm so glad the World Cup is over. It's so painful in the US whenever the World Cup rolls around. All these people pretending like they give a crap about soccer wearing their stupid jerseys and European scarves. It's a boring sport that is white noise in the background while you socialize about **** you actually care about.

Another reason I hate soccer is this: Why do announcers say Soccer fans crying over the sport is a display of "beautiful passion" but Football fans crying over NCAA/NFL is redneck?

The media keep asking these questions because we keep talking about them.

Personally I love soccer (football to me here in sunny Scotland) some games can be boring but some can be truly thrilling just like football sometimes the D wins. I love watching a great D neutralise and attack over and over.

As for crying over soccer being passion and football being redneck that comes down to the commentators not the sport.

You have to play soccer to really enjoy it

It is way harder for the 11 in soccer to see the same thing than the 11 on offense or defense in the nfl because there is no "reset" or realignment. That is one factor why there are less "big" plays. But when it comes together, it's a beautiful thing. There is also almost no resting in soccer. You're always running. I enjoy both sports for what they are. Soccer is less cruel on the athletes though.

"Heard here first, Belichick hates soccer"

I read this breaking "NEWS" yesterday, but if you feel the need to take credit for this today, go get 'em. Maybe rename it "The OFFICIAL Belichick hates soccer" thread. I hear making it official adds juice to the cause

Have you ever actually heard an announcer say that, or are you just making it up?

It does seem VrabelJr was "projecting" a bit, doesn't it?

too many players in soccer take dives for it to be enjoyable to the casual viewer.

the world cup had a few games decided because a player faked their way to a penalty shot or getting the ball in the opposing teams territory.

I used to hate divers irrationally. I mean I thought diving was the worst thing you could do. Worse than punching an opponent. Then I grew up. I mean I still hate cheating on any level. But diving is not any different than holding in the nfl. It is a way to get unfair advantage over an opponent. Like how some people exaggerate pass interference. You could call a foul on every play in the nfl. It's just that they don't call them. At least diving doesn't injure your opponent, like headhunting or a hit to the side of the knee.

Isn't his daughter a soccer coach?

He said that to cut the crap, Bill obviously loves soccer.

Coach, yes. Soccer, no.

She's coach of the women's lacrosse team.
