I was surprised when ESPN reported on Sam's hygiene. In case anyone missed that story, ESPN apologized for running the story which gave everyone a reason to repost the story. The story itself isn't funny, but these deadpanned lines are...

"Michael Sam is waiting to take a shower, as not to make his teammates feel uncomfortable.”
“they didn’t know that, specifically, and also weren’t tracking that.”
"He's just trying to feel his way through and see what guys he can relate to."
"He's shown some flashes."

The caption beneath the article reads, "How Michael Sam is fitting in with Rams teammates."

I know it's juvenile, but don't they have proofreaders at ESPN?

Sam should go in there, be fabulous, and smack a few asses in those showers. I'm sure that will help with the camaraderie. ;)

I can't believe they did that crap. I saw an interview with Chris Long on NFLN last night and he was obviously asked about Sam. He replied that he's been working hard and that the only time anything's brought up about him and how he fits in is when the media does it.

EDIT: I also see now that Chris Long tweeted out the below after that ESPN "report:"

Dear ESPN, Everyone but you is over it.

So pathetic...

The real reason is because the resulting boner might not be well received.

Lol you might actually be right! I was wondering why this was happening: "Michael Sam is waiting to take a shower, as not to make his teammates feel uncomfortable.”

But now it all makes sense! :p

If you have seen the movie "42" (I highly recommend it if you haven't) the Jackie Robinson character sits at this locker after a game and admits that he waits until after the rest of the Dodgers shower before he does. I'm sure whoever wrote this at ESPN was trying to equate Sam to Robinson (boy that's a reach, Robinson had to deal with credible death threats and among many other indignities had to stay in private homes instead of the team's hotel) meanwhile Sam is the most celebrated late 7th round draft pick, ever!

I'm sure Sam will be an ESPN employee after he gets cut.

I think you are totally, 100% right in your description of ESPN's reasoning.

Really poor journalism, if you even want to call it that.

It was only half tongue in cheek. Imagine being in your early 20's and showering with a bunch of fit females.

I imagine that every night and I'm in my...well...let's just say "Withering Heights" age bracket
Was Withering Heights a Phoenician settlement?

If BB was his coach the morons at ESPN would have fainted the first time BB said Sam "got his hands on couple balls".
