Or for the tripping, or for the video taping, or for the tampering. And that's just the jests. The league seems to come down hard on random teams and then it's business as usual. It's like those lazy parents that let their kids misbehave 75% of the time and then flip out promising severe punishments.Does anyone remember what the Jets were fined for having coaches at "Jets West" when they weren't supposed to? I'm sure it was a slap on the wrist at most, another example of Goodell going over the top with one team (Seattle) whilst ignoring a transgression by his former employers?
It certainly feels that way. I'm not sure if it's intentional or not, but it's pretty clear that justice is harsher for successful teams.I might just being wearing a tinfoil hat, but I have to wonder if this punishment is partially to promote parity. We all know the spygate punishment was a bunch of bs, and I have read saints fans who argue things along the same lines about bountygate. Both controversies came after superbowl victories by each team. Does Goodell like making an example of the strong teams to allow to league to catch up?
That being said I am not sure how much losing two practices and $300K will hurt the hawks. From the article it sounds like the team is only charged $200k of that, and Pete is charged $100. I wonder if the $200k works against their salary cap.
I love how some here claims to these great facts that only great teams get punished. But also completely fail to give any proof what so ever of this. If it's so clear that only good teams get punished then give som proof of that. Shouldn't be so hard to find if it's so clear. Vs 750k and a first round pick for having a camera man wearing the wrong attire for his location or whatever made up reason differentiates what the Patriots were doing from everyone else... Oh and the whole deal with Saints players having their suspensions vacated... Nope no evidence.I love how some here claims to these great facts that only great teams get punished.
