Logan Mankins Traded

You're kidding right?

Mankins has never been anything else than a family man, a very upstanding person with a solid work ethic.

No one knows what goes on behind the scenes. BB made a business decision, but perhaps personality played a role as well. All i'm saying is that we don't know.

After 9 years he finally concluded he was a bad guy so he traded him and went to a press conference and waxed poetic about him?
Maybe he discovered he is an alien and was afraid Goddell would ban him for a few games.

Of those scenarios, alien is far more likely.

Obviously, you are hyperventilating, but the Patriots were 6-1 and had the best record in the NFL with Donald Thomas at LG when Mankins (who was more in his prime at the time) held out in 2011.

The best win of the season last year (41-7 on the road against the Ravens) had Josh Kline paying the entire game at LG.

The facts simply don't bear out your panic attack.
You talk about facts when you don't even have your facts straight:

Mankins did not hold out during the 2011 NFL Season.

Thomas was not under contract by the New England Patriots during the 2011 NFL Season.

This from a Martin Fennelly column in Tampa

"The only thing that worries me is that the Bucs made a deal with: Belichick.
If Mankins is retired a year from now and Tim Wright has 100 catches, we'll let you know.
It's just that Bill Belichick always seems to get the best of the Bucs. Hey, Belichick pulled a lot more out of LeGarrette Blount and a lot more out of Aqib Talib, and what did the Bucs get? A Belichick recommendation to the Glazers that they hire ... Greg Schiano. Thanks, Mr. Bill!"

He's more like the George RR Martin of NFL coaches. This trade is like the beheading of Ned Stark. Just wait until our "Red Wedding" comes which hopefully will be years away.

Martin's spent the last 15 years writing two ****ty books, so hopefully Belichick's not anything like George RR Martin. o_O

The thing that scares me is that the Patriots went into the off season with the worst center (Wendell) and one of the worst guards (Connolly) in the NFL. They have given up one of the best guards in the NFL in this deal.

As yet, none of the players they drafted has shown enough to be a starter this year. Halapio is on the bubble to be cut. If the line struggles and Brady gets injured, we can write off the 2014 season.

This deal was simply an attempt to lower the cap even though no surefire replacement is on on hand.

Yes, 2010 not 2011. Still doesn't change the fact that he held out 7 games, and the Patriots went 6-1. That was during Mankin's PRIME.

If you think Dan Connolly is one of the worst guards in the NFL I have to genuinely ask you: Do you even watch football?

Wendell and Connolly both allowed more than 30 quarterback hurries last year. (PFF)

To answer your question, I attended all the home games the last three years.

Does it really change his point that he had the season wrong, and that his replacement was Dan Connolly and not Donald Thomas?
The same Dan Connolly, who is now on the decline, that posters wanted to cut earlier this year due to contract.

You mean the same New England Patriots team that could not beat the NY Jets in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.

A) What does that have to do with the comment
B) "Posters want to cut" is using an appeal to a novice, 10x worse than an appeal to authority
C) What does this have to do with the comment

Mankins gave up 11 sacks, your point is?

Hurries are VERY subjective and don't hinder a team as much as sacks do - how many sacks did those 2 give up?

Connolly is probably going to be playing Center too, at a guess.

PFF, LOL

It wouldn't shock me if they traded Brady before the season starts. NOTHING surprises me anymore.

Or guard if Stork shows what he did early in camp.

Connolly is a downgrade from Mankins just like Connolly was a downgrade from Neal in 2010. Kline and Devey are downgrades from Mankins.

To state the New England Patriots are a better football now without Logan Mankins is ludicrous.
