The OL mid lvl picks will dictate "if draft was ok"... If they contribute, it helps. If not, then maybe 2014 wasn't our draft. It's way way too early. Troy Brown and Faulk didn't show much in early years. Not to say that I actually believe these rookies are Troy Brown, but rather to say "let's see".

You can't judge the draft class yet due to Easley taking time to get fit again, and Stork getting injured.

Jimmy looks like he could take the franchise forward post Brady, which is huge for anyone who is a Patriot fan and not a Brady fan.

I'm also not going to act shocked when we cut sixth and seventh round picks as everyone will be doing it.

Making out the draft was poor before we have started week one smacks of idiocy. It may end up being poor, but Jesus, lets play some football first

You know what smacks of idiocy are the inabilities to comprehend what you read. I posted that the draft class “has been disappointing so far”. Which means to this point it has been disappointing, that is not a final assessment, I left the door open for improvement even said it could happen and I hope it does. I can assess the draft class to this point, Belichick is assessing it as we speak, maybe we should tell him not to cut anyone because it is too early and it could change. Jesus Bill why did you cut Thomas let us play football first.

Sixth and seventh round draft picks get cut all the time, fourth and fifth take time and are not necessarily going to look like starter material right away and our one and three are injured. Therefore we have no way of telling if they are disappointing or not due to them not really hitting the field.

You have had a downer on the draft from the word go, seeing no need for a QB succession plan. Sadly you are looking through 'the draft wasn't what I wanted' eyes when judging, even though two of the top three picks are inured.

You may be right, but with so little evidence for the top guys, I think you are jumping the gun

I am fine with the Garopollo pick, it is not what I would have done but it was a solid move, I like the Easley pick a lot and think he will be a real good player. White and Fleming were solid draft choices as well, the picks I was down on were Stork, Halapio, Thomas, and Gallon and I hold strong with my opinions on them, they were poor choices there were much better options on the board. The trade to Jacksonville was terrible we traded #93 to get Stork and Halapio 2 players with 7th round to UDFA grades.

I have their entire college career, combine, pro day, OTA, training camp, and preseason as evidence; I have plenty to go on. We have cut 1 draft pick in the last 2 seasons, so no they do not get cut all the time either.

I wish I could remember the dunce that was arguing with me about how he wasn't an in-the-box safety and was a coverage specialist. Seems we could use the latter right now and yet Thomas didn't even make the final round of cuts.

Our most recent drafts have been extremely good, so we are bound for a bad one...this may be it or it may not...but our team is getting better from starter to 2nd and 3rd backup, and our rebuilding process is coming to an end...so yeah it will get more and more difficult to make the roster

If ur lowest draft picks/rookies are making the roster consistently it prob means your roster is weak, not that your draft was amazing

To be fair you have been consistent on Stork, even when others were talking about him as a starter right away (maybe that was 'anyone is better than Wendell' syndrome, we will see)

I just feel Stork got injured too early in camp to make any real impression on where he is, and any slating is coming from a 'this guy is **** and he hasn't proved otherwise yet' viewpoint.

Look at it this way; if Jimmy had got injured in that second week where he was struggling, the 'Jimmy sucks' crew would be happily telling us all he is a waste of a draft pick. Thankfully we have seen plenty of him, he has improved and looks quality, and the doomongers have gone quiet or are pleasantly surprised.

As I said, you could be 100% right, but the lower draft picks take time, and we haven't seen guys some people wanted to see start properly yet.

God I can't wait for the season!

What a concept.

The Pats just got rid of their all pro o-lineman, perhaps they were happy with how their young linemen were doing.

I think my concern is that we really need OL help with Mankins gone, outside of LT and RT the OL is completely unsettled. Players like Stork, Fleming, and Halapio not panning out will be difficult to overcome, so it is very important that 1-2 of them develop and develop quickly, otherwise Brady might not make it through the season.

Can't argue with that. If it does end up with them playing, then they need to be able to hold their weight.

Let's hope by week six then you are happy with their progression, because the team will certainly be benefiting if that is the case

I couldn't close my browser fast enough when I came to this thread and someone was already talking about how bad of a draft we had before preseason is even over. Seriously guys, get a ****ing grip.

We drafted 8 players and it is likely 3 don't make the final roster. Easley and Stork have not played a down this preseason. White and Fleming have not done anything to indicate they will be major contributors. Garopollo who is going to be a non-factor for the next several is the only player who has shown anything promising at this point,
I just don't see how your expectations are so high at this point in the season it's pretty ridiculous do you think we drafted 8 NFL ready starters?

To be fair, people were talking about how suspect of a draft this was right after the draft. Hell, some were even doing it during the draft.

If none of those 3 rookies play a snap this year, Halapio gets cut, Fleming spends the next 3 years as the #3 tackle then moves on, and Stork becomes a decent starter by 2016, we got more than the average value teams get from draft choices in those slots.
Your expectations are out of line with reality.

Yeah but we took those guys really high in the draft they're already developed and should be starting by now because our depth is so bad.

How does a player being cut prove the Patriots agree with your version of his strengths and weaknesses vs someone elses?
Well if you bothered to read the thread he predicted Thomas would get injured, missing extended time and not be able to compete once healthy because he was so far behind.

This guy really had practice squad written all over him when he was drafted did anyone really think he'd make the team? I mean it'd have to be on special teams or because of injuries and missing that much time isn't going to help his cause.
