Logan Mankins Traded

Dont know much about Tim Wright but him joining this late for this offense isnt going help instantly I would think. Wait and watch I guess..

Ya for a rookie in TB. His stats were pretty good. AH like build

I would be totally fine with this... if we had a proven C and/or RG. Mankins is in the decline, and while he's still very good, he was going to be a cap casualty next year anyway. But making this trade now just makes the weakest unit on the team even worse. Looks like someone out of Halapio/Kline/Devey is going to have to be ready to start right away.

Re: Wright, he was pretty good in Tampa last year, and being a Rutgers guy I'm sure Belichick has been scouting him for the past 5 years. But I have a hard time seeing he alone being worth the kind of upheaval that this is going to create on a key unit of the offense. It only kinda makes sense as a trade-off to me if the pick is a good one (1st or 2nd round, and I can't imagine TB giving up a 1st).

I'll never understand how Belichick can look at Brady--a pure pocket passer if there ever was one--and elect to start three unproven and/or bad interior linemen in front of him. I fully expect this to be the team's achilles heel; it's by far the weakest unit we have.

Boone is holding out in San Fran. If we are able to bring him (not that likely) this becomes a whole another story

I've always did want to see Cannon at guard.

Another point: Mankins was a leader in the locker room. This might not be so well accepted by the team

Didn't see this coming, always liked how Mankins played, but I'm going with the one year earlier and cap room angle.

I have no idea who the kid from Rutgers is but I thought this was interesting, he had his three best games last year At Seattle (4 catches for 58 yards, TD) At Detroit (8 catches for 75 yards) and home to SF (7 catches, 82 yards, TD) not exactly the AFC east! Those are some good numbers against very good defenses, two of which were on the road, all from passes not thrown from a HOF QB. This certainly answers the "how to replace Hernandez" questions.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why people want that loser, Richie Incognito. The guy is a cancer.

I don't think Belichick would touch him with a 10 foot pole. The guy's been a pariah everywhere he's played, and he's merely slightly above average as player, not all-world.

Despite the blatant obsession with getting every Rutgers player imaginable, I like Tim Wright a lot as a move tight end. He can't block to save his life, though, which is about what you'd expect from a converted wide receiver. Apparently he was struggling in camp, though.

Let's put it this way:

He's a 6'4 TE/WR who, as a rookie last year, caught more passes than any of our rookies last year ****From Mike Glennon, no less.

Dan Connolly to left guard? Ryan Wendell is at center? Marcus Cannon at right guard?

Jason Licht with the bucs knows how BB operates. He wont be giving up a very high pick I would assume...

I'm ok with this trade it's give us some more cap room.

Still have $8m in dead money. The problem is do we take the hit now or spread it over the two years?

Per Spotrac, we clear $5.755m in 2014 cap space.

Don't like the move, especially without a suitable backup. Problem with recent playoff losses were at the lines. OL got trashed last year in Denver, Baltimore the previous year. The new OL may be good enough for the regular season, but once playoffs come around, I don't see how it won't struggle again, as of now, you can't really say there is any improvement in the OL.

Big suprise, I would expect that this is not the last move the patriots make. Mankins contract was going to be an issue sooner or later though
