Had they both been available, would you have picked Manziel or Garoppolo?

Sounds like you didn't watch Manziel in college.
I'd bet anything I watch much more of him than you. He had great elusiveness. Made those Duke boys look like fools. Of course, those Duke boys are all going to be doctors and lawyers next year. Now that everyone else on the other side of the ball is as fast as him, his elusiveness is out the window.

He has bust written all over him, for more reasons than one.

Duke?

Yeah, you have no clue what your are talking about.

I admit I would have gone with Manzel. I also admit I was wrong. I also wanted Vernon Goulston.

Really? What makes you say that? I'm only talking about the guy's marquee game ('cept maybe the '12 Alabama game), the final game of his career and arguably the best, where just about every play was highlight reel footage as he came back from 21 down.

The fact that you didn't know what game I was referring to really only shows that you're the one who doesn't have the 1st clue what he is talking about.

Oh but please remind us all how dominating the SEC defenses makes someone a top pro prospect. You know, given the stellar career Tim Tebow had and all.

I personally wouldn't have touched Manziel with a 10 foot pole, so it's not really moot for me.

yeah????...well...I wouldn't have touched him with an 11 foot Lithuanian!...how you like me now, huh??

Sounds like the only time you've seen Manziel is through highlights.

Actually the people who have only seen him through highlights are the people like you who think he is all-world.

But please tell us all again how dominating SEC defenses like Tim Tebow did is the key to NFL success. I want to hear that one again.

You deduce that Manziel = Tim Tebow just because they both played and won in the SEC.

That speaks in itself of how ignorant you are of both players and their abilities.

You're the one who said Manziel "played against SEC defenses and excelled" and would therefore be a success in the NFL.

Don't get your panties in a bunch just because I showed how stupid that statement was.

I honestly thought Garopollo was either going to sneak into the end of the 1st round or get selected in the beginning of the 2nd with all the QB craze so when he fell down in the 2nd I was a little surprised but to think New England would take him that was a surprise.

I was rather interested in him prior to draft based on some hype he was getting, really started to read about him and was impressed with his release so when New England took him I wasn't upset.

Most likely wouldn't have drafted either had I been in that spot at #62 but then again I'm not an NFL GM or HC.

Manziel is number one! Manziel had to show it to the Washington Redskins bench!

i would have deferred judgment to BB......i didnt know anything about Gropp......i didnt know much about manziel......they have so much more info than fans

that being said, with hindsight, obviously Gropp.......at the time, i would have seen Manziel as more proven at a higher level......but i never thought Manziel was a great fit for the patriots, for many reasons

I hadn't given the scenario much thought, but once I did I LMAO at the prospect of an attempted Manziel and Belichick coexistence. It would have been grab your popcorn time.

For that reason I am against the idea of allocating significant resources to the backup QB right now, I felt we should have drafted a player that would have helped us win a Super Bowl while we still have Brady and a good shot at the Lombardi.

I'm not getting at you here but I'm curious as to who you would have taken in that second round slot. I was thinking much the same as you regarding the Garropolo pick although I've come to accept it much more now but, is there a prospect who would have helped us win a SB this year or next available after No 62?

For me, it would have been Fiedorowicz, Kareem Martin, Tre Mason, Donte Moncrief as prospects that fell between 62 and 93 but I'm not convinced any of them would have been locks to help us win a SB (I'm not sure how any of them have performed in pre-season.

I would have drafted one of these players:

- C.J. Fiedorowicz
- Gabe Jackson
- Tre Mason
- Marcus Martin

I think the CJF would have helped immediately and filled the need we have for a blocking TE but he could also be a threat in the passing game.

C/G Marcus Martin & DE Scott Crichton were also available...

I wasn't a fan of Crichton and I'm not sure how much closer to a SB Marcus Martin would have taken us.

I like Easley and I think he will be a fantastic player for a long time if he can stay healthy, and I think Garopollo has promise that has shown up this preseason, but outside of that our draft class has been very disappointing this year. I heard reports of how well White has performed but I have not seen it in the games at all. Stork, Fleming, Halapio, Thomas, and Gallon are non-factors for the most part; none of them has indicated anything to suggest they would be contributors to the team in 2014. I thought we had turned a corner with the draft in the past 2 years – Jones, Hightower, Dennard, Wilson, Ebner, Collins, Dobson, Ryan, Harmon, Buchanan all contributed in their rookie seasons. Right now, it appears Easley if he can get healthy and on the field and maybe White will give us anything of meaning in 2014.

You're projecting the bolded because I never said that.

I simply compared defenses both Jimmy and Johnny faced in college, which I think is fair to answer the main premise of this thread and why I would pick Johnny if given the choice back on draft day.

You somehow equated my comment to Manziel = Tebow in the NFL. How you came to that conclusion says a lot about your ability to critically think.
