Yeah, that's it. No one is ever safe when Peyton is driving the team bus. From liquored-up kickers, to WR's who can't take a hit, to O-linesmen who can't block properly, it's getting crowded under that bus.

Any time the media talks up Peyton, I just think back to his pick-6 to Tracy Porter in that SB against NO. What an amazing act of choking. My favorite memory of Peytie. Don't ever change.

to clarify my reference to Sheriff Coltrane, I saw a couple of articles where they said that his teammates respected what he did and called him the sheriff as a result of his display. I just proposed a suitable equivalent from popular culture to illustrate my personal feelings about peyton's bada**ery.

Peyton's penalty was dumb because he had no reason to be yelling at Swearinger, except maybe that Swearinger should know better than to level a guy in a preseason game (which would be a dumb thing to say in its own right). That was all Manning's fault leading Welker into the hit.

This is where rooting interest comes into play. I think it's safe to to say those Broncos fan who have a problem with Swearinger's hit on Welker had no problem with Welker's collision with Talib in the AFCCG.

Regarding the hit itself, I don't think it was anything beyond the scope of a "normal" NFL tackle. I can understand why they penalized Swearinger, but I also don't know how he was supposed to deliver any kind of hit there and not draw a penalty. And if he held up and didn't try to hit Welker, that's like asking for a seat on the bench or off the team.

Man, I pondered on whether or not to post my opinion on this in fear of being pelted by rocks, and probably deservedly so, but I really liked what Manning did. God, I just threw up in my mouth with the realization that I used "liked" and "Manning" in the same sentence, but I digress. I fully acknowledge that Manning was at fault with the throw and that Swearinger laid a legal hit, but if it were me laid out on the ground while my opponents stood over me and celebrated, I would have been happy to see a teammate get involved in the situation even if he (and his stupid droopy face) were in the wrong in more ways than one. I'd rather look like a jackass defending my teammate than be a guy who did nothing.

I just defended the indefensible; that was quite possibly the most difficult paragraph I have ever had the displeasure of writing. I'm going to go take a shower and try to wash the filth away.

The problem is mostly with Manning's history. If this was a one time thing it'd come off a lot different. Given his history you have to wonder if he thinks it isn't his fault.

Peyton doesn't like it when his opponents get physical and play real football. He doesn't like it when refs just let 'em play. His teams are typically built with a finesse style. He probably brings a non physical mentality because he doesn't bring many physical attributes to the field anymore (weaker frame, neck surgeries, weak arm, no mobility as a qb). He'll beat you with timing and precision. But if you punch him in the mouth, he gets very frustrated.
