I stand corrected..

There is a Brady rule. HItting at the knees, in general, is Carson Palmer. Launching while on the ground is Brady.

In part because of the season-ending left knee injury that Brady suffered in the Patriots' 2008 season opener against the Chiefs, the league's Competition Committee adopted a clarification of the current rule on hits to a quarterback in the knee area or below. The clarification specifically prohibits a defender on the ground who hasn't been blocked or fouled directly into the quarterback from lunging or diving at the quarterback's lower legs.

I stand corrected..

Looks like I stand corrected, Blue Thunder.

I wasn't aware that there were 2 different rules; although in my defense as @jmt57 stated, the media generally gets it wrong and claims that anyone diving at the knees is the "Brady rule." I don't believe that they differentiate between the 2 rules very often, or at least nearly as often as they should.

This article from Bleacherreport predicts the end of offensive football because of the "Brady Rule"

THIS is the way to do it if you are going to be azzbackwards 100% wrong about something...I'll bet the writer has moved on to politics..

How the "Brady Rule" Will Kill Football | Bleacher Report | Apr 21, 2009

Teams will have to abandon four and five receiver sets and go to two and three tight ends to handle blitz pressure. Down-field throws will diminish as a result.

No spread offense.

Fewer down-field throws.

Big, brutish linemen blocking for a big runner smashing between the tackles.

Lombardi would love it.

That's where we're headed. And all because of one silly rule.

Texans and Broncos have held joint practices this week. Word here is that Swearinger has been trash talking all week dispite not making any plays. And just before the TD, he was flagged for a helmet to helmet hit on Welker. I think Manning was telling the punk that he should keep his mouth shut until he has the play to back it up

Also ran his mouth in the Texans-Falcons joint practices as documented by Hard Knocks. Swearinger deserved it.

I was aware of that. It wasn't a Helmet to Helmet hit. There was nothing Swearinger could have done except just get out of the way and don't make contact with Welker who was going low. Heck you could even blame Manning again for throwing his receiver into a defender again.

I'm not saying Manning did anything wrong. My point is about the mediots and people perception that Manning is a classy player. A classy player doesn't go up to another player and talk trash no matter what. Otherwise it's lowering the bar for what classy means.

You mean like Brady did to Anthony Smith in '07?

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I said Brady was a classy player...oh wait I didn't...

Just to make my point clear. There are very few classy players in the NFL. It isn't a slight. If I was on the field I'd trash talk too. Would I consider myself a classy player? No? Is it a bad thing? No, not unless you're like Richard Sherman.

Mediots and people perception say Manning is a classy player. That's my gripe. Along with all the other BS about their God Peyton "The Choker" Manning.

I stand corrected on my stand corrected post o_O

So you don't think Brady, one of the classiest players in the league, is a classy player. Alrighty then.
