Whoa....Personally, I don't see it from here (but "from here" is 400 miles away and he is there every day):

New England Patriots projected 53-man roster v6 - espnBoston

RUNNING BACKS (4)

The Patriots are always good for a surprise, and we've had our antenna up at this positionsince early July. If there's a surprise, we'll play a hunch at this spot with Stevan Ridley, whose low snap total Friday (11 snaps) in a "dress rehearsal" game caught the eye. Meanwhile, Roy Finch lands on the practice squad.

It would surprise me a great deal. He didn't play many snaps, but the Pats always rotate their backs, especially early in games. I'm guessing the bulk of his carries the year he ran for 1200 came in the second half. Not only that, but the runs he did have against Carolina (a good defense) were very productive. I don't see the third preseason game as a negative at all for him.

There are countless young, unproven backs with potential in the NFL...we are not going to cut a proven vet with quite a bit of skill, there will be teams interested...only way Ridley leaves this roster is if he is traded, but I don't think that will happen b4 he is given one final chance here when the games count

Belichick loves flexibility. To me, it is nonsensical to cut Ridley, the Pats best pure rusher on a hunch in the last year of his rookie deal.

I like the way grey ran. I would not be shocked if he was traded or cut.

Granted Ridley's had an issue with ball security at times, but he's a talented back who runs hard. I can't see them cutting him.

He's a tough and young back and in a contract year. I think he steps up big. Plus, he doesn't fumble that much when you look at his numbers compared to others in the league.

The only way BB cuts Rids is if he notices an unserious approach to ball control in practice and the guy is not following coaching advice. Were that to be so, and I have zero evidence it is true, then BB should cut the guy regardless of talent. You CANNOT give the ball away in close contests.

I think Reiss is off the mark here.

Only makes sense if he is traded but I still won't like it I don't want to see James White take on a big load he doesn't have the burst or power of Ridley.
Ridley would thrive with a team like Tennessee or Indy would be a awful move if this happened to keep Bolden over Ridley?
I like Bolden and feel he would thrive with more carries but with Finches health and Jonas Grey I like but he doesnt have a second gear.
I would absolutely hate this move.

Ridley has definitely gotten a bum rap on the fumbles.

There are certain players that the media/fans, etc just like to beat up (i.e. Reche Caldwell who was signed to be a #4 WR, caught 61 passes and 4 TD's and was treated (and to this day continues to be treated) as if he was Albert Haynsworth or Andy Katzenmoyer.

Cutting Ridley, but keeping Boyce = S.T.U.P.I.D.

But hey, Jake Bequette wakes up to day #784 as a paid member of the New England Patriots today, so anything is possible regarding that roster.

I wouldn't say that Reiss is ADVOCATING this move, just trying to predict how BB might look at the situation.

Ridley would get picked up immediately while Gray wouldn't but would likely end up on the practice squad. I think Reiss is reading too much into Ridley's 11 carries.

I wouldn't mind a swap of Gray for Bolden.....Ridley,Vereen,Gray and Finch would be ok with me.

Finch would get The Franchise killed unless the play was to him. Easily telegraphed.
Also at his weight he cannot run against the wind in those windy late season games.
