Other NFL Preseason Games Thread

SportsCenter @SportsCenter ·
THIS JUST IN: Wes Welker got a concussion tonight vs Houston. He missed 3 games last season after suffering two concussions in two months.

@MikeKlis: Wes Welker did suffer concussion said coach John Fox

Wes, do the right thing for yourself and the Pats.

Texans and Broncos have held joint practices this week. Word here is that Swearinger has been trash talking all week dispite not making any plays. And just before the TD, he was flagged for a helmet to helmet hit on Welker. I think Manning was telling the punk that he should keep his mouth shut until he has the play to back it up

I hate Peyton as much as the next guy but good on him.

As much as I dislike Manning in the sense of a football rivalry (I actually think Peyton is a good guy overall), that's exactly what happened.

In an exhibition game, he led his best chain mover into an unnecessary hit. I don't know how else to read it except for it being either deliberate or 'criminally' reckless. He's probably taking years off of Welker's career with this crap.
Years off his career? What about years off of his LIFE?

So much for Manning being a classy player. He just taunted and trashtalked Swearinger after he threw a touchdown. Looked for and walked right up to Swearinger. 15 yard penalty for Manning.

You gotta be kidding. TFB is a trash talker like Larry Bird.
What I criticize Manning for is his ineptness or reckless endangerment exposing WWW to all those concussions in his self serving quest for fantasy stats worship.

Ya but he's OUR TFB :D

The Horse-Faced Goober will never, ever do anything worthy of my respect. Eff him & the rest of
his a-hole family.

Some observations from watching Preseason Pass:

- Gator Hoskins made an impressive, very athletic TD catch for Miami. Doubt if he is cut. Would look good as a Patriot.

- Brandon Spikes is a beast going downhill (run support, blitzing) but is still a liability in pass coverage (though he did have a pass defended).

- Dane Fletcher played with TB's second string LBs but did not look good. Constantly out of position, biting on play action and whiffing on tackles. Jeff Demps had a few good carries (he's quick to the hole) but dropped a pass in the end zone. Landon Cohen will probably make the Bills (has some nice push in the second half).

- Simple reason why the Bills are horrid - they are paying Jake Bequette (otherwise known as Mario Williams) mucho bucks to be, well, Jake Bequette.

- Jeff Tarpanian continues to play well for the Texans. Looks very instinctive when he's on the field.

i I won't 'disagree' with your post, but a little perspective. We'd be out for blood and rah-rah-rah if Brady did the same. I understand the hate, considering he and his family probably ruined our chances at 3-4 more SB's, but I'm not afraid not give him respect even if the NFL is constantly licking his balls.

Hoskins should've been one of the UDFA TEs targeted here instead of Asa Watson. There might not have been value at TE during the draft, but there were a lot of TEs available post-draft who might have been able to help here at TE 2/3.

If Tamps cuts Fletcher, I would welcome him back here with open arms, provided that Tampa covers
the difference between his salary and the vet minimum.

perspective please....has Brady's coach/team lobbied for and had changes to the rules that specifically benefit HIM 6 times in the past ten years?

Pls. DB's can't touch WR's cuz of Brady...

oh wait.

Well, DB's REALLY can't touch receivers now because of Bra---... nvm,

Uh, you can't hit a QB near his knees because of Br....

Well, ...uh.

I'll give you the knees hits because of Brady.....

The rest is on crybaby Manning.

This is actually a popular misconception that Tom Brady had anything at all to do with the rule changes to the QBs knees.

This was changed in the 2005 season's playoffs when the Steelers took Carson Palmer out; thus making it known as the "Carson Palmer rule."

It doesn't have anything in the world to do with Brady, as his injury happened a few years later in the 2008 season opener.

--------------------------------------

During the off-season, the league's Rules Committee modified the rule regarding low hits on quarterbacks. The new rule prohibited defenders from hitting a passer at or below the knee unless they are blocked into him. The so-called "Carson Palmer Rule" now requires that defenders take every opportunity to avoid hitting a quarterback at or below the knees when the quarterback is in a defenseless position looking to throw with both feet on the ground.

I stand corrected..

Yeah, my entire post was a joke about rule changes and having Brady at the forefront, as explained, the knee rule is the "Carson Palmer Rule" and the other 2 "changes"/ "points of emphasis" are Peyton Manning/Bill Polian centric.

I stand corrected..
You're given a pass, as it is easily understandable due to the fact that 99.99999% of the media refer to it as the Brady Rule, and nobody outside of New England has ever heard it referred to as the Carson Palmer Rule.

It's a pretty good example of something getting repeated so often that it becomes accepted as factual.
