Interesting on the former if true, looks like he has a lot in the tank.

Definitely a surprise on Kelly. Must like the young 'uns I guess.

LOL I had all three making the 53

I agree, I thought Kelly was going to be a key for our front 7

Maybe shadow roster options .........................

Really surprised about Kelly.

Anderson couldn't tackle a good dinner and Smith looked like his tank was empty so no surprise with those 2.

As a few have opined on Twitter, bodes well for the health of Jones and Siliga, and the future of Worthy/Vellano. Disappointed to see Kelly go though, definitely worth keeping.

Wilfork, Siliga, Easley, Jones

I like the foursome, but Siliga needs to get healthy so he can breakout.

Cutting Kelly one of our best DL for no reason? Thanks for ruining my day Bill

NE with some notable cuts: Patriots released veteran DL Tommie Kelly and Will Smith, along with vet LB James Anderson, per league source.

Perhaps if Kelly is cut, that may be an indication that the Patriots expect to use more 3-4 or 3-3-5 formations, and not a whole lot of 4-3.

Smith and Anderson being released are no more than mild surprises, if that.

This would seem to be a vote of confidence in the projections for Easley and Worthy.

Very surprised about Kelly and Anderson. Smith looked like he had nothing left though.

Smith and Anderson aren't huge surprises. Neither did much this preseason. Kelly is a shock to me. I thought he would start .

It must be good news that Siliga and Chris Jones and their injuries. Wouldn't be surprised if Kelly is back.

Kelly could end up a Raven, that DL has been decimated by injuries already.

FWIW, per Miguel, this frees up about $1M in cap room, with most of that coming from Kelly (Anderson and Smith both qualified for the minimum salary benefit).

Maybe Kelly didn't want to take another pay cut? Either way, he was worth his small contract.
