Bills Fans crying already

Not sure that I have ever met a Buffalo Fan.... if I did wonder if they would talk about their long days of misery or Jim Kelly/Marv Levy?? The days of "almost"...

Well, then theres this:

MT @mikerodak: NY State Police arrested Buff DT Alan Branch for DUI, 2AM Saturday. Vomiting out the side door of his car...
Isn't that what Bills fans do driving home from games?

Go to any game in Buffalo these days and you'll see a crowd composed of mostly teenagers and young twentysomethings. It's pretty remarkable. Tickets are cheap and most of the older diehards have packed it in.

Embracing wild conspiracies for cold comfort...they're a long way from the Bills I almost hated more than the Dolphins back in the 90s.

I caught a little of yesterday's Bills/Bucs game. I guess "inept" is the best word to use when describing the Bills particularly the first team offence. Interceptions, fumbles, missed opportunities kept reoccurring to where boos could be heard at the end of the first half. A lot of people have their fingers crossed with Winston, N for me he's "fools gold"

Every year the Bills gain more and more talent
and every year they find new ways to squander it.

Clearly, this is the fault of the New England Patriots bcuz reezinz.

Love this. The best CB in the league to go with the best QB, a top 3 NT, and let's not forget, the best TE playing alongside Minitron. With Chandler entering the discussion of top DEs and some kids named Vereen, Collins, and Easley flashing, the Pats will be a who's who of NFL superstars this year. There will be so many plays being made, the talking heads will forget all about Mayo.

I'm giddy with excitement for this season. I can't wait for their alternates to go to the Pro Bowl.

......and then this one is a gem on so many levels: :D

"exactly. if they were in any other division in the NFL they would be lucky to have double diget wins..."

Yeah, and if Buffalo was in any other division they'd be lucky to not go 0-16 every year.

I'm tired of the AFC East argument anyway. A team from the AFCE has been in the AFCCG for the last 5 years. If the division was really that bad, the team that comes out of it have trouble trying to win a playoff game. (ahem, AFC South)

I don't hate the Bills or their fans. I feel bad for them. The Patriots kick their ass every single time. EVERY... SINGLE... TIME. They have so little to look forward to. EJ Manuel looks like a bust too

They are like the blighted neighborhood of the NFL, and some of their fans have given up hope in life and act like punks. You feel sorry for them as a group but have trouble feeling more than disdain for some of them. Here's hoping Bon Jovi can inject some life into that sad NFL neighborhood.

They quite literally ARE a poor man's version of Jets fans.

My favorite line in that thread is:

"No one is successful for 14 years straight without outside help. Last year they made it the AFC finals with 13 signed rookies. Yet the public just thinks they are that good and no one questions it."

I can't imagine how much they must dread another NFL season.

It's a completely moronic theory, but wouldn't the opposite also be true then? How can Buffalo be so awful for the last 16(?) seasons without "outside help?"

The Bills history is much better than the Jets. How many SB's Jets has won? Has gone to?

I'd rather have Ralph Wilson (RIP) as a owner than stiff Woody Johnson.

They're every bit as bad as Jets/Steelers/whoever when it comes to beating the spygate drum. Because, you know, that's the reason they've sucked for the past 15 years.

they are just super because their head office drafted not one but two horrible qb's.

Not that fans of opposing teams will stop attempting to rationalize the success of the Patriots due to allegedly playing in a weak division, but that logic is full of holes.

Winning percentage per division since the NFL went to the current eight-division format in 2002:

AFC East: .525
NFC East: .518
NFC South: .515
AFC South: .512
AFC North: .509
AFC West: .488
NFC North: .480
NFC West: .453

The only season that the 'weak division' card is valid was in 2007, when the Bills, Jets and Dolphins combined for a collective 12-36 record.

To say a team benefits from playing in the division they are placed in, then that implies that they rack up a great record within the division but are mediocre when playing teams from other divisions. Though the Patriots do have a better winning percentage within the division than outside of it in recent years, the difference is not that big - and can in part be attributed to playing two games against other first-place opponents. 2005 and 2012 are the only seasons where there is a notable difference.

Ironically the Patriots performed better outside the division than they did within it in 2013, which blows the 'benefiting from a weak division' theory out of the water.

2013: 4-2 in AFCE, 12-4 overall
2012: 6-0 in AFCE, 12-4 overall
2011: 5-1 in AFCE, 13-3 overall
2010: 5-1 in AFCE, 14-2 overall
2009: 4-2 in AFCE, 10-6 overall
2008: 4-2 in AFCE, 11-5 overall
2007: 6-0 in AFCE, 16-0 overall
2006: 4-2 in AFCE, 12-4 overall
2005: 5-1 in AFCE, 10-6 overall
2004: 5-1 in AFCE, 14-2 overall
2003: 5-1 in AFCE, 14-2 overall

If fans or writers want recent examples of teams benefiting from playing in a weak division, there are plenty of better examples.

- The 2013 Colts went 6-0 in the AFC South, but were just 5-5 outside the division; the three other AFCS teams combined for a 13-35 record, and six of those 13 wins were against each other.

- Despite Washington going 0-6 within the NFC East, only one team had a winning record. The Cowboys were 5-1 in the division, 3-7 outside.

- The Saints made the playoffs last year thanks in large part to Atlanta and Tampa Bay. New Orleans was 5-1 in the NFC South, 6-4 outside; the Falcons and Bucs combined to go 2-10 within the division and 8-24 overall.

- Nobody in the NFC North won more than eight games last year, and the two top clubs both allowed more points than they scored.

- In 2012 Washington made the playoffs despite going 5-5 outside the division; that was thanks to going 5-1 against the rest of the NFC East.

- The 2012 Broncos had the best record in the AFC due largely to playing in a mediocre division. Denver went 6-0 within the AFC West while the rest of the division combined for a 13-35 record overall, and were 7-23 outside the division.

- In 2013 the AFC North, AFC South, NFC East and NFC North all had worse won-loss records than the AFC East.

There is also a chart at the end of the following article, done by an impartial (Seahawks) fan, that shows the number of wins outside the division by each of the eight divisions. The graphic should put to rest the myth of the AFC East being the NFL's worst division.

If I had to watch that team regularly, I'd be jealous and crying too. They were awful - AT HOME - against the Bucs. It was 24-0 before garbage time kicked in.

If not for what seems like a talented D, I'd say outright Buffalo will have the worst record in the league. Of course, they hardly ever play up to their talent level so they may get that number one overall pick. Bottom 3 in the league - Buff, Cleveland, Minn, you heard it here first.

Compiled a list of all the rookie QBs through 3 preseason games over at the Gang Green, since a few of them had a lot of interest in JG, but I think this would also make Bills' fans cry, and since that's the title of the thread:

Jimmy Garoppolo (New England)
24/37 (64.8%) 334 yds 4 TD 0 INT (129.7 Passer Rating)

Blake Bortles (Jacksonville)
28/45 (62.2%) 435 yds 1 TD 0 INT (101.6 Passer Rating)

Carr has only played 2 games, however since the Raiders have already played:

Dereck Carr (Oakland)
19/32 (59.3%) 183 yds 1 TD 1 INT (72.7 Passer Rating)

Zach Mettenberger (Tennessee)
35/51 (68.6%) 504 yds 2 TD 2 INT (87.1 Passer Rating)

Johnny Manziel (Cleveland)
24/42 (57.1%) 213 yds 1 TD 0 INT (78.7 Passer Rating)

Teddy Bridgewater (Minnesota)
26/40 (65.0%) 266 yds 4 TD 0 INT (117.2 Passer Rating)

Tom Savage (Houston)
11/14 (78.5%) 90 yds 1 TD 0 INT (117.2 Passer Rating)

EJ Manuel (Buffalo)
47/85 (55.2%) 461 yds 1 TD 2 INT (64.8 Passer Rating)
