Kenbrell Thompkins are very talented WRs. Dobson is 6'3 and will settle in at about 216 lbs. He has very good quickness off the line and plenty suddenness in breaks. However he has a great explosive xtra gear similar to josh Gordon and Randy Moss although nobody really compares to Moss. But he can be a more complete WR/route runner than Moss. Aside from that he gets good seperation due to his speed and quickness but he also seems to know how to settle in zones and avoid the DBs. Oh and he also has pretty good athleticism and ball skills lol

kenbrell has a very good extra gear also, and athleticism/ball skills. However he has elite quickness/flexibility/burst off the line as well as elite quickness in his breaks and cuts. He also has very good/great athleticism and adjustments to the football and his hands are developing. He is working extra hard on hands and adjustments to the football and you can see his hands are getting way better and he will be known for very good hands by the playoffs. He had a drop last night but we can see his hard work is paying off as he no longer fights the football or double catches. And it is rare to see him not get good separation on EVERY play with his quickness/agility/burst off the line and running routes. He even frustrated Browner due to his quickness/agility getting into his routes.

We can see why no WRs were drafted early. Coaching staff saw the elite raw talent in our young WRs who are getting better while feeling more comfortable and natural in the scheme which means their already great play speed will get faster as they get more instinctful in bellichicks scheme. So my question is how good do you think they could get, what player or players does their skill set remind you of? Is there a particular WR you see them being as good as or in between a couple of WRs skills.

I think Kenbrell has similar skills to between a prime Chad Johnson and Gaffney. Quicker and more dynamic than Gaffney but not quite there with a young chad. More similar to Jeremy Macklin. Not quite his straight line speed but makes up for it by being quicker/ sharper getting into his routes. Dobson is kind of a freak. An extra gear like Flash Gordon but not as strong. However he is more sudden in his breaks than Gordon. Dobson plays like a Justin hunter but not as tall, however he has some of the route running skills of the 6'0-6'1 WRs that play tall like marquise Lee or chad johnson so we can call Dobson a cross of Justin Hunter and Odell Beckham. More complete than Hunter but so far not quite the route runner of a prospect like, Beckham, However Dobson is 6'3. So he has a lot of Justin hunter with a good amount of Odell Beckham/Keenan Allen route running skills/quickness. Dobson is a unique talent. BTW that TD he scored on the steelers he ran away from a 4.33 Corner as part of the double coverage he beat. So he plays to his 4.37-4.43 speed. Sorry for long thread but what's the thoughts on how good they will be.

The Moss and Rice of this generation!!!

I REALLY like Dobson's upside, BUT, he hasn't played a snap and I can imagine he's nowhere near game shape. Hopefully he plays some in the last preseason game, though I can't see him being productive (this year)with Edelman,Thompkins, Amendola and Lafell all ahead of him (at this point) I expect around 40 catches from him IF he plays all 16 games, maybe 30 if he doesn't.

You can see that Thompkins has made that 2nd year jump, he looks excellent. I can see him making 45+ catches this year.

Come on guys, How good do you think Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson should be. And is there any WRs or combo of WRs they remind you of. Them having breakouts are very important to a championship instead of just a trip to the playoffs

Interesting take, honestly though if Dobson doesn't have more of an impact than what you're predicting, his season will have been an epic fail. A lot of people are expecting a pretty good showing from him this year. If he is a non factor because of the foot injury then I would worry about him going forward in future seasons as well with that particular foot problem.

Methinks your use of the term "elite" is a bit generous.

They've both flashed promise but that's really about it. Both struggled with consistency and drops last year.

There's reason to be optimistic about both but I think both guys' ceiling is "solid starter" and I really don't think their skill sets are elite in any facet.

When you say names like Moss my eyes just glaze over and I stop reading.

Randy Moss as a rookie, 1,300 yards 17 TD. And that was before they started 'emphasizing' illegal contact.

I like both of the young guys and they have flashed pretty good. Big and athletic. Lets not start sucking each others ****s just yet.

The Moss and Rice of this generation!!!

Even a poor mans Rice and Moss are potentially pro bowl caliber WRs. Dobson has great deep speed and ball skills where Moss had very rare deep speed and jump ball skills. However Dobson puts far more efforts into being a complete WR who runs intermediate routes in traffic. Moss was so good of a deep threat he never had to run routes in traffic. KT and his cousin Antonio Brown have Jerry Rice caliber work ethic. Most fans don't know how long and hard KT worked this offseason to get quicker/ more flexible/stronger/faster while improving his endurance and hands. Every morning he went to work 8 hrs a day or more on bettering his skills like it was a job he had to show up for. He could toast his combine stats and we can see he doesnt double catch any longer due to his hard work this offseason. I could see 65 catches over 1000 yards for him. Coaching staff likes their raw talent enough to not draft an early WR or make any free agent or trade splashes. They could be as good as the broncos WRs this season

Both these guys are beyond solid. Solid is Lafell. Even pro bowl WRs struggle in season One. Demaryius Thomas,Decker,Marshall,Jennings,Jordy,Crab tree and Even Calvin had 700 yards. Dez Bryant only flashed. Let's face it No WR has as much raw talent as Moss to dominate before learning NFL route running/timing/moves. As a matter of fact many pro bowl WRs struggle with separation in season ONE. Kenbrell as a very raw undrafted rookie grabbed sports media attention across the NFL with his raw ability to consistenly get open from NFL Cornerbacks. Then made plays most pro bowlers never did in season one. He frustrated Browner with his quickness and speed into his routes who later said he was very surprised and caught off guard by His rare quickness/ suddenness. Dobson like Kenbrell had injuries and had probs with the schemes as many rookies do but again showed raw talent to get open on every play. He showed good quickness in routes and maybe not rare speed but great deep speed and that extra gear josh Gordon showed. He scorched steelers double coverage and outran a 4.33 corner for a score. So he plays to that 4.37-4.43 40 time

Whoa, whoa whoa, hold on a second, now let's not say things we can't take back. Let's just agree Dobson and Thompkins have potential and leave the potential for sucking each other's ****s out of it.

Man, and here I was happy just to think that Thompkins and Dobson would be serviceable NFL receivers.... :)

Now, that I know we have Moss and Rice as our 3rd and 4th receivers, I guess I should be downright giddy!

i think our WR corps will have the potential to be the best in the entire NFL by years end...but we shall see

i need another year before I can compare our two guys to others around the league, i just know KT and Dobson are big, physical WRs, which something many of us wanted for quite a while (we still dont have burner though (if only boyce had filled that role))

So, the team into the season with Amendola, Edelman, Boyce and the two bidding pro bowlers you mention. We didn't draft an WR early and didn't do anything in free agency. After all, we had 5 receivers, and rarely used even four.

This is a nice story.

Belichick is paying Lafell FOUR MILLION to play this year. IMHO, if he thought that Dobson and Thompkins were two budding pro bowlers, I don't think that he would have spent that kind of money. Belichick doesn't pay a $3M bonus when he has four solid players at a position.

The reality is as most of us have posted for many months. Boyce is competing with Thompkins for the 5th WR position. Dobson is competing with Amendola and Edelman for "starting" reps.

Thompkins won the battle with Boyce. Congratulations to him. He used his reps well. We'll see what we have in Dobson in a few weeks. Dobson could be anywhere from our #2 to our #5 WR at the midpoint of the season. The good news is that we have 5 solid receivers.

I REALLY like Dobson as well. Actually, I had a dream the other day that Bill traded him for some crap running back and I woke up angry.

It's a shame he missed all of training camp and most (potentially all) of pre-season. I hope we can ease Dobson into action slowly throughout the season and by mid-season he's comfortable, healthy and at the top of our depth chart. Ultimately we need him to stay healthy and hope his foot does not nag him.

Incredible two midget white guys with 13 inch verticals rumored to be made of glass are getting the nod over Moss/Rice Part Deux. Belichick....DEVIOUS!!

I've been an unblinking and relentless Booster of Thompkins long before and during the Mass Idiocy, hereabouts and elsewhere, that has had him getting cut, and I am a virulent Enemy of The Bitter Brigade of Bitter Old Men who attack everyone who gets excited about anything...

But this particular Reference to The Great One ~ I refer'f course to Brother Wolf ~ was perfect.

Gotta ask PatFanCraig....with all your insight regarding KT's offseason training, are you and KT buddies?

Yep, but that's not the reason I think he has pro bowl talent. Make no mistake I'm rooting for him to become a 1300 yard WR but I'm not biased in my opinion of his talent. He knows I'm not biased and respects my opinions even when negative and has asked for them before. Since training camp began I havn't talked or txtd nearly as much.

We should be rooting for Kenbrell and or Dobson to step up and become a #One Wide out. How many teams would be content with a limited 5'10 guy #One WR that barely averages 10ypc and rarely makes an acrobatic or contested intermediate/deep catch. I'm not knocking Edelman and he is good at what he does. But no team would be content on him as the clear #One. With a pygmie slot(bradys words) as our #One the offense has consistently stalled in the playoffs. Edelman has a long built chemistry with Brady that results in more passes his way,However to win a championship we should be rooting a bigger faster WR to build similar chemistry with Brady. Edelman can still get his catches but we should be looking for a WR to step up and get over 1000 yards with 65-75 catches while making defenses respect his deep speed/ball skills

Sorry PFC, but if you're buds with KT, then your opinion would be biased.
Human nature.
