************, did Ghost just kick a 60 yarder?

My boy Chung has been put on TE a lot this preseason so far. Not surprisingly, he has not looked good.

Brady to Edelman is sweet. Nate is really looking good tonight.

Ugh, Josh is so predictable with the Jumbo package.

What a f'n catch and TD by Vereen. Good lawd that was sweet...

Will Smith played well. Interesting that he was playing DT with the first team.

It is important to note that 3-4 DE is not exactly in his wheelhouse, and he's been there all year.

If you think the jumbo package is unpredictable now, wait until Gronk gets back on the field. The defense legitimately won't be able to diagnose run or pass pre-snap. That's why Gronk is such a better TE than Graham. He's a threat in the passing game because of his smooth routes, underrated speed for a man his size, his size, and soft hands. But when run blocking, he's an absolute road grader for a TE. You can tell he likes it (see his excitement when he blocked Ngata one on one in the 2011 AFCCG). McDaniels is going to have a lot of fun with that package when Gronk gets back in the starting line-up.

hey -- I stepped away for a few seconds and it sounds like Brady got called for a delay of game? Something about a new rule/emphasis, from what I could get the TV crew. Can someone confirm the penalty, and explain what the new point of emphasis is?

I believe it was a false start he was called for. I was too busy drinking my beer to notice it actually happen and didn't see a replay of it.

I know that Johnson didn't play for the Panthers, but I was still surprised at just how effective Cannon was in this game. I was very pleased with his performance.

Also, Dennard took to his CB spot quite comfortably. He looked as if he's already back to where he needs to be in order to start along with Revis.

They've been calling QBs for false starts when they "simulate the snap" with a quick movement. No replay, but that's probably what they nailed Brady for.

I've thought all along that Cannon might well be the starter at right tackle, depending on Vollmer's health. The Pats have three solid tackles with significant NFL experience. It could very well be that Vollmer can't handle the snap count as a full-time starter and is better in the swing tackle role? It's not just the broken leg; he's had chronic back problems.
