No Dobson, no Gronk, no Vollmer, and Wendell and Connolly are probably going to be starting against that defense, if a good amount of their starters go. Prepare for the possibility that the offense may look like **** run over twice.

I wonder what the list is going to be like for the Panthers. This is their fourth preseason game, they just played Sunday night, and their starters played almost the entire first half. I know Charles Johnson won't play, but I expect them to sit other starters and their starters to only play a series or two rather than two plus quarters like the Pats' starters.

It'll be interesting to see how much of these hold true. I wouldn't be shocked to see at least Easley and Dobson get a few reps.

Nah! The Pats' starters should do well against the Panthers' back ups. It is going to suck that the Pats face the Panthers because there is no way their starters are going to play a typical third preseason type of reps.

You quoted it before the edit. That post is if the Panthers have a good amount of their starters go. If not, it will still be disappointing because it will be hard to get a true guage on where the team's strengths and weaknesses lie as you can typically get that in the third game of the preseason.

I'll believe it when I see it. I can't see him playing his starters that long on a short week in their fourth preseason game. Maybe on on offense since Newton played his first of the preseason snaps on Sunday night and he has a totally new receiving corp. I expect their defense though to get pulled quickly.

It “would have been more important,” Carolina coach Ron Rivera said, “but because of the short week, we treated the second game as the big week. We went through full game- planning against Kansas City and played the starters longer than normal.”

Still, Rivera expects to use his starters, including quarterback Cam Newton, for 30-35 plays, or about half the game.

“They are still going to get some good reps and I hope we can get a good two-minute drill in the first half,” Rivera said.

Damn, I would have really liked to see Easley tonight, and also if Dobson shows signs of a second year leap. For the most part, except for Stork, we know what the other guys bring.

Now is this the panthers fourth preseason game? The only teams who get an extra preseason game are the giants and bills, who played in the HOF game.

I believe this is an unofficial list, Reiss speculating. While his reasoning seems sound I'm still holding out hope we see those two for a bit.

Agreed on the others being known quantities. I really don't need to see what Gronk can do.

Easley and dobson just started practicing this week, so that's understandable, Gronk's knee is still a bit tender - we might mot see him until October. Not sure what's going on with vollmer.

I wouldn't be surprised. They would have an awfully long layoff if not. Again, if their first string defense plays, don't be surprised if our offense doesn't exactly look like worldbeaters. I just hope the OL can prevent Brady from getting killed.

Thanks. I didn't go over the article since there was a list. I'd actually like to see mayo as much as anyone, so the LBs can all play their roles.
