@MikeReiss: Patriots announce the release of DL Marcus Forston and TE D.J. Williams.

Pretty safe to project 2 TEs on the roster at this point.

Yikes. Awfully thin at TE.

I believe everyone saw that coming since he once again wasn't practicing, I don't know what happens to this guy, it's not like he gets the injury prone label, but he seems to always have something, something that he can't overcome to get into the field, every NFL player has bruises and scratches.

With a chance like this, he doesn't grab with both hands, he might as well look for another job.

I hope we do not sign him again, always hope for nothing. Good ridance.

Can't make the team if you don't get on the field. And no surprise Forston is gone, too.

What team is going to release a quality TE? All the released TEs will be of the below JAG caliber like Williams.

If Gronk gets injured, we might as well give Tom a 6th OL and give him more time for our deep WR group go get open.

Maneri has a good chance to make the team in the blocking only TE role we have used more seasons than not.

This isn't surprising. Once he didn't make it back to practice this week, he was doomed. It's a shame, thought he had a chance.

I think we will be combing the waiver wire for TE on cutdown dates. Wether we can find one worthy of a roster spot remains to be seen but there has to be some TE cut at some point in getting to 53 that is better than what is out there now.

I think AFTER week 1, we sign one of the veteran TEs, that way his whole year salary is not guaranteed.

Nothing surprising about this...

My expectations are mostly contingent upon health, but here are some...

D.J. Williams not to make the team

I've been wondering about this. Is there enough of an advantage to using him at TE that we would use a game day roster spot, when Cannon could cycle in to allow Vollmer to play out there? Maneri is more likely to provide value running the routes, but he won't block as well. Maybe the advantage of him running a route out of a 2 or 3TE set is sufficient to make it worthwhile, but I wonder if a STer doesn't beat him out on the game day roster and therefore makes him expendable on the 53-man roster.

Williams have has never showed anything to me.

Ott & Forston were my 2 picks for cuts during & after the last game.
Just again on NFLN watched Forston's pathetic spin dance flailing moves escorting an Eagles player on a sideline run for a TD.
Thought "GONE!" at the time. Surprised it took this many days.

I think there will be a few scrap TEs during cutdowns we can try and take a look at. The bottom of Houston's TE depth seems like a good candidate. Anthony Denham, Zach Potter.

You might want to take a look at Denver's TE depth. I could easily see them releasing someone like Tamme, Virgil Green or Jameson Konz..

Also, someone like Joseph Fauria may end up being available..

There are options out there. It's a matter of whether or not BB decides to carry 2TEs with Develin as an "H-back" or 3 real TEs..
