Had they both been available, would you have picked Manziel or Garoppolo?

Favre at least had the size to weather the beating that comes with that style of play, manziel lacks both the size to take that beating and the maturity to play the position in the NFL. he may mature, i doubt it though, he will never be big enough to take the beating that running around in the NFL carries with it.

This was the argument that kept Doug Flutie on benches while "big enough" QBs like Mike Tomczak, Jim McMahon, Tony Eason, Marc Wilson, Tommy Hodson, Hugh Millen, and Rob Johnson were trotted out. It's been proven false by Drew Brees and Russell Wilson, among others.

All throughout the offseason, I had Manziel, Bridgewater, and Garoppolo as the top 3 QBs in the draft. I may have been Jimmy G's biggest fan in the draft forum. I still think Manziel is a heck of a talent and has the highest ceiling out of any QB, just above Garoppolo. His current attitude wouldn't mesh with a developmental role here though. Post-draft, I would take Jimmy G over Manziel (I think there's a chance if the draft was held tomorrow, Garoppolo would be a 1st round pick based on his play).

Jimmy G really is a perfect fit here. He has elite QB traits (release, scanning the whole field, footwork, mobility, attitude) yet fell to the late 2nd round because he needs time/years to develop to the pro game.

Now it's time to let the hoodie convert the young one.

If we are just going back to draft day(s) and not seeing them perform in their NFL settings, I'd have taken Manziel. I love the way he plays. He might end up being a bust but I am rooting for the guy.

Ahead of Bortles?

I never said a smaller QB couldn't win in the NFL, Brees and Wilson both have Lombardi's, what i said was that they won't hold up running around the way Vick and RGIII do, and that's the comparison for Manziel, he has not shown the pocket composure Brees and Wilson show and I doubt he ever will.

Odd you would include MacMahon, he won a Lombardi and size was the knock on him, other than arrogance.

Vick and RG3 were both considered severely undersized. The former, at least, has had a pretty successful career. I think Manziel's a better passer from the pocket than people give him credit for, but I understand your point. Both Vick and RG3 have had injury issues.

Trent Dilfer also won a Lombardi. Doug Flutie was a much better quarterback than either of them.

(Tomczak was also much better than McMahon, though).

Ahead of Bortles?

Wasn't really a fan of Bortles or his hype. I had him muddled in with the 2nd tier QBs. He's sure looked good so far though.

..as off in the distance, Bortles chortles....

Garoppolo. Even though I compared him to Brady Quinn pre-draft.

Would not have touched Manziel in the first three rounds.

Without seeing what I've now witnessed with JAG, I wouldn't have drafted a QB. But if that answer's not allowed, then, yes, I would've picked JAG over Johnny-what's-his-face.

JFF.....with no hesitation.
Bring a little WWF to the sidelines during the 25 penalties, endless video reviews, and TV timeouts after every kickoff, punt, and EP. JFF flippin off the red seaters at Gillette....priceless. Oh.....and he scrambles enough to steal a win coming off the bench

Yeah, he's like Tebow's evil twin......

IIRC my top 5 was
Bortles
Carr
Bridgewater
Garoppolo
Manziel

Zach Mettenberger, AJ McCarron or Aaron Murray.

I liked any of those three in the 3-4 round.

Didnt know much about Polo and I'm not a fan of small school QBs but I love what he has shown so far and glad he's a patriot

I had all 3 ahead of Manzell, with Bortles and Bridgewater leading the class. Too many reasons to pass on Johnny Football

1) Ego (gets a superlative on arrogance)
2) Greedy (trademarking his name - and the money sign)
3) Hedonistic
4) Disrespectful (especially as a rookie in pre-season)
5) Short
6) Accumulating the first 4 items leads to - lack of leadership qualities

He should add a C in the middle of his trademarked name, where the C stands for either College or Canadian.

I didnt have Polo on my radar entering the draft, thinking if the Pats were going to draft a QB it was more likely to be Tom Savage in the 4/5th or later.

BB wouldn't put up with Manziels ********.

Garopollo all the way.

Would not have touched manziel with a 10 foot pole. I don't know how anyone who watched him in college could say he would translate to the NFL well.

Wouldn't want the media baggage of Manziel. That $#!% is annoying
Would rather have Tebow holding the clipboard than Manziel on this team.

I like him on the Browns though lol

Garappolo have some potential but I don't think this board was happy when he was selected based on who was still on the board. I am sure if BB had been in position to get Johnny Football the selection whould have been the best thing since slice bread. After the Tavon Wilson and Duron Harmon selections I stopped watching BB's Drafts. I just hope for the best with the selections.

There was no way on earth that BB was going to draft Johny ****up.
