Does anyone honestly believe BB will "Richard Sherman" Revis in the regular season?

Every time I read something about it so far in camp it's like they think Revis playing on the left side in camp means he is going to be playing on the left side all the time.

Why would would anyone think after Bill let Talib travel he won't let Revis travel?

Just no way in hell if Calvin Johnson lines up on the left side of the offense Revis is going to stay on the left side of the defense covering Golden Tate or whoever

yeah, I think Bill will use Revis much like he used Talib...to put on the offenses best receiver.

In some fairness, I remember Asante Samuel always staying on the same side of the field in 06 and 07...even when it meant not playing up against the best WR on the opposition (ie Hobbs on Plax). But It's because they were a zone team then (like Sea now). But it now seems like Belichick is far more willing to play man, like they did last yr w/ Talib and move him around.

I would expect it to vary game to game.
I'm sure there will be some where they leave him over there, and some where he sticks to a calvin.

so, for example, in week 5 against cincy I'd expect to see him more on aj.

It will differ game to game based on the O they are playing and talent level. Just like Talib.

I agree. However, there is one other theory that is interesting.
Put Browner on Megatron to beat the crap out of him with McCourty doing nothing but doubling him and then have Revis obliterate the 2nd receiver. You either lose the top 2 or you throw into double teams all day.

Plus when we are in zone, Revis will be LCB.

I still never got the theory that Belichick would gear his defense to accommodate Browner and not Revis. If Browner cannot switch sides, he will be given specific assignments and Dennard will be the guy switching sides with Revis as he follows the #1 receiver around all over the field.

As others have said, I am sure that they will have times where Revis might just stay a LCB no matter where the #1 receiver lines up, but most of the time Revis will shadow the best receiver.

Belichick has not gone into a super bowl winning season as head coach without a true shut down corner. Ty law was the last one, and hopefully revis will pick up where law left.

Ty Law missed most of the 2004 season including the postseason with a foot injury.

I should hope BB uses Revis like Rex Ryan used him.. all over the field, and unpredictably, to screw up the QB keying off him. As hated as Ryan is around here, he still is a defensive genius.

Defensive Genius is quite an overstatement. He is good at designing exotic blitzes and selling out to stop the run.

I think you can make a pretty compelling case that we had one in Talib last year. Too bad he couldn't stay healthy.

Yet you will recall that he actually blitzed very little in that infamous '11 playoff game that upset the 14-2 Patriots.

I dont consider talib to be a shut down corner. Did you see brandon lloyd at his age run right by him on sunday? Talib is not a guy who can shut down every opponent's number 1 receiver.

Yeah. Are you saying that game makes him a defensive genius?

Has he played strictly LCB with someone other than Browner starting? I haven't heard much about that. I've only heard that he's played LCB only while Browner played RCB only, haven't heard about other pairings.

In that he had Brady completely confounded during that game, I would say yes.

Anyway, it is just an example of a game where he didn't overly rely on blitz schemes.
