2015 Draft Prospect Thread

Here's a name and a player OTG's gotta love. Jesse James - TE - PSU. He's 6'6" 272lb junior. PSU players have a charity event lift for live each summer. The players perform there. He did 225 27x at that size.
Deadlifted 500 and benched 400. Very impressive. Most PSU juniors stay. But, he did enroll early in Spring of 2012. Prob in line to graduate next spring. Here's an article about the players and performances. The Outlaw and Gronk has the sounds of a good western.

Thanks for posting this. I was going to post another read on James, but had trouble with access to the site. Here it is:

James is definitely one of the more interesting TEs out there, and someone to keep an eye on. Great size, strength and sub 4.7 speed. It will be interesting to see what he does on the field.

Wasn't sure if you saw any pictures of Hackenberg. He looks huge at 234lb. He's gonna be gone long before we pick in two years.

John Urschel ended up as my #1 center prospect in the draft. His athletic numbers compared reasonably well with Eric Wood, a guy the Pats were supposedly very interested in and would like have taken in 2009 at #34 if he hadn't been off the board, and his intelligence and field leadership made him a perfect pivot player. I was convinced that he was going to be a Patriot, which obviously didn't happen.

They are probably already on your watch list. But, keep an eye on Mike Hull. He's a senior LB who's playing the mike this year. Lack of depth. But, he's very strong and fast. Not very big. Could be one of the play in space lb's we need. The other is Adrian Amos. The new staff moved him to safety from cb where he wasn't too bad. Willing to hit and tackle. New staff moved him to safety and that's an area every team needs. Safeties who can actually cover receivers and tackle.

You can get a good look at them Aug 30th. PSU plays UCF in Dublin. Coming on at 8:30 in the morning. Top of the day football!

More on Jesse James' freakish athleticism:

Along with Brandon Scherff, this kids just seems like a perfect Pats' prospect, and one of my top offensive players to keep an eye on.

From Dane Brugler:

After chatting w/ him, #Harvard DE Zach Hodges might be one of my favorite prospects for the 2015 class. When I asked about his energy (1/2)

Hodges really got into character. "I want to dominate. I want you to hurt when I beat you. I want your children to know I beat you" (2/2)

I agree. He's my early favourite.

Sorry, that quote just reminded me of this....

"I think he’s a good man, I like him, I got nothing against him, but I’m definitely going to make orphans of his children."

"Uh, you know, they do have a mother champ"

"Yes but I imagine she would die of grief"

Guys who really interest me at this early stage:

5. Brandon Scherff, OL, Iowa
19. Dante Fowler, DE, Florida
30. Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor
34. Shaq Thompson, OLB/S, Washington
51. Alvin Dupree, DE/OLB, Kentucky
64. Erik Striker, OLB, Oklahoma
73. Durell Eskridge, FS, Syracuse
79. Cody Prewitt, FS, Ole Miss
172. Clive Walford, TE, Miami

Manx's early binky Zach Hodges is ranked #75. Benardrick McKinney is ranked #45 and listed as an OLB; he's someone I want to see some more film on.

Not ranked by NFL Draftscout:

- Jesse James, TE, Penn St.
- Kyler Fackrell, OLB, Utah St.
- Arik Armstead, DE/DT, Oregon

James is just a true junior. Though, he did enroll in Jan 2012. Surprised he's not on there. They have many other juniors ranked. Also, Donovan Smith - PSU's left tackle is a 6'5"330lb 4th year junior. I think he'll play on Sundays too.

Has anyone watched Rutgers TE Tyler Kroft? He has very impressive hands and some good, though not great, athleticism. He's been getting Jace Amaro comparisons which I can see. CBS currently have him as a 3rd rounder which is about where I saw him.

@Duke_FB: #Duke All-ACC TE Braxton Deaver will miss the 2014 season after tearing ACL Monday am. Deaver had 46 receptions for 600 yards & 4 TD in 2013

An oft-mentioned 2015 TE prospect.

He may be a 2016 prospect now, major loss for Duke, don't expect them to win that division now, either way I want him in a Pats uniform ASAP, give him a shot when eligible

Dane Brugler takes a look at some small school prospects. He highlights my current favourite, Zach Hodges:

Although he calls the NFL an “interest,” Hodges realizes a Harvard education opens more doors than just professional football. But he has the skill-set and natural talent that will earn him a chance in the NFL. Hodges has excellent first step quickness with instant acceleration and nonstop momentum towards the ball that can only be blocked for so long. He stays balanced through contact and low to the ground, allowing him to generate power at the point of attack with natural leverage and active play style. Hodges needs to refine his pass rush moves and contain his aggressive nature to limit his wild angles, but it's easy to see why NFL scouts have highlighted the Harvard hybrid pass rusher on their preseason watch lists.

He puts me in mind of a Vic Beasley/Kevin Pierre-Louis cross with the explosion, potentially, of Jamie Collins (although without the 250 lb plus body). Haven't seen enough of him in coverage yet as he looks to be a pure pass rusher in how he's used at Harvard, but he looks to have the athleticism to drop. At 235b, he'll need to because he'll have to be a linebacker if he's going to avoid just being a situational pass rusher.

Burglar looks at ten other prospects too aside from Hodges.

I was planning on doing quite a bit of scouting on him this season. Even moreso now that I see you're high on him. 6'6", 240 lbs. and would be a nice comliment to Gronk as the TE2 going into next season based on what I've seen of him to date.

Collegiate football players of interest:

Danny Shelton, DT - Washington
Hroniss Grasu, OC - Oregon
Clive Walford, TE - Miami

Not a fan of Bryan Stork.
