So Josh Kline had an interesting night. It seemed like every 3rd or 4th play, you'd hear the ref announce his number as an eligible receiver. I'm actually rather okay with this, since we seem to be in a state of flux at tight end just now.
From his stat page:
But he was sure getting a good look at the blocking TE duty, and why not? It fits with Coach's idea of a versatile football player. He doesn't need to catch unless the play breaks down, and he's open, although by then there's probably a host of other issues to deal with too. Like a QB getting sacked. But I digress.
Seems to me that if he can fill in as a blocking TE, then it'd be a handy thing, as he could rotate into the OL when needed, and come in as an eligible receiver and act as the blocking TE. At 6'3" and 295lbs, he's not Gronk, but he seemed to do well when called upon last night.
Thoughts?
