Should we be concerned here? I usually don't mind the Pats' secretive ways, but c'mon. Anyone know out there?

Who is Mayo? Never heard of Mayo. Next question please.

Just got off the horn with Bill and he told me not to worry about it. Says Mayo will be back soon enough.

It apparently is a personal matter...according to MR....will be back soon

Elsewhere for the Pats, their beats report LB Jerod Mayo missing for 3rd straight day. But word I'm getting is it's nothing serious.

I beleive his wife is expecting any day now and will deliver the baby soon. I think that is why he has been out

Made a pretty good guess in the TC thread then when I said bereavement or partner is due to give birth!

Think those 2 were the most obvious though, we'd have probably heard about an injury if he picked one up at any point.

im still worried about our TEs. I personnaly dont think Grink is ready and everyone else are not starting caliber

TE, WR, OL, and safety are all positions to worry about.

We won't have a receiving threat at TE without Gronk. That's just how it is. But with HooMan and whoever they pick as another blocking TE (Manieri for now) we will be fine with the old school blocking TE + combination of solid WR and RB, two of whom are receiving threats. A healthy Gronk and non murderous AH would be great but we can build a perfectly good (top 5) offense without either of them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they brought in Keller after week 1 so his salary isn't guaranteed if it doesn't work out.

While that's the popular thinking at the moment (which has changed every month depending on the circumstances, draft/OTAs/minis/training camp, now post-week 1), we really have no idea as to the severity of his injury. We know it was a very bad injury, but that's about it. There hasn't been a lot of chatter about Keller from other teams either, which I find odd. Either he's just too injured still, or he's 100% dedicated to being a NEP and isn't concerned about leveraging any other teams/offers etc.

There have been guys like Owen Daniels who we all thought fit well here too during their workouts, and he's about to get cut down in BAL in a couple of weeks. He has been lacking any kind of explosiveness, isn't able to get off the line well, and looks old and worn out. I don't know how Keller looked during the workout with the Pats, so this may be a credible thought, or it may be nothing more than a fan fueled rumor that we'll be hearing everyday for the next few weeks.

And did in 2013...

And did in 2013...

As long as Gronkowski's healthy, there really is no worry about the TE/receiving options or the offensive production.

The concern is that he replicates the injury situations of the post season in 2011, 2012, and 2013, which will leave us with Hooman/Devlin as our receiving option TEs.

We saw the obvious dropoff when Gronk went down last year on Dec.8th, late in the season. The offense was a former shell of itself---far from "top 5." The running game carried us for a couple/few games, but the passing game was mud. While I don't think that will happen again on the exact same level, I can understand the concern.

oh man...we GOTTA WIN THIS GAME!!!!...I don't think I could take another preseason loss...

Found him We're all good!
